  1. Thanks for sharing this! I just need someone who has a diploma and a bsc hons community public health nursing to say they got registration and I will be over the moon . very pleased for you
  2. Just been reading some threads on another forum from nurses within the EU who are also having their applications refused based on the same argument, this has been going on since last year. Looks as though it was only a matter of time before UK trained nurses got a turn. I think the message from Ahpra is very clear, they do not want anymore overseas nurses, and the Diploma argument is a perfect way to block a large proportion of these.
  3. I would like to think so but I'm thinking that they may only allow the RGN top up degree and as they don't seem to understand UK qualifications. I'm not sure that they will understand what our degree is!! I have emailed AHPRA to see if it is an acceptable qualification to them......
  4. Hiya Kelly, I worked in Lancs. I think the problem will be that my nursing degree isn't RGN itself its health visiting, and whilst my midwifery degree would be accepted I am unlikely to get a job as a newly qualified midwife, as Australian newly qualified midwives are struggling to get employment. Just like nursing they want experience. I would need stay in the UK and gain about 2 years midwifery experience. I'm not parting with anymore money until someone on here tells me that they managed to get registration with a health visiting degree! I was hoping to go to Perth until they put nursing on schedule 2, now you need ajob offer for 12 months, so we were heading to Melbourne
  5. Yes you need to take IELTS and score 7 in each category [h=3]Overseas Midwives NEW - Australian College of Midwives[/h]www.midwives.org.au › Professional Development English language requirements You are exempt from language testing if you are a midwife registered with the New Zealand Midwifery Council and applying for Australian registration under the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition agreement. To register as a midwife in Australia, you are required to provide evidence that you meet English language proficiency requirements. AHPRA have recently published a fact sheet and FAQ web page that may assist you with understanding the requirements: http://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/News/2013-06-12-fact-sheet.aspx The English language requirements set by ANMAC for migration purposes can be slightly different. If you hold registration as a midwife with either AHPRA or the Midwifery Council of New Zealand then you are exempt from an English language test for migration purposes. Midwives with registration anywhere else in the world are subject to an English language proficiency test. MAKE SURE YOU BOOK THE ACADEMIC TEST Thanks in advance :wubclub::wubclub:
  6. I'm all for progress Laura George, I just spent the last 18 months training to be a midwife to gain a BSC Hons, in order to compliment the Diploma I have held for the last 14 years, in addition to the BSC HONS health visiting degree I also have held for the last ten years. I did this in order to meet the Australian requirements to register as a family child health nurse. It would now seem that my RGN qualification is worthless in Ahpras opinion, therefore probably unable to ever gain registration as intended. 14 years as a nurse with experience and qualifications in trauma care, community nursing, health visiting, sexual health/HIV counsellor, and midwifery............Bridging program? I don't think so!!!
  7. My thoughts exactly! Your either meeting the standards or not .
  8. What will ahphra do with all the Diploma trained nurses when they come to renew their registration with them?
  9. Totally agree, I am also RGN Dip HE (2000) and have a Health visiting degree. Just finished my midwifery degree in preparation to go on a permanent visa (this is a requirement to register and work as a family child health nurse in oz. Anmac assessment back, Ielts passed....All for nothing. Just glad I didn't part with the visa money and sell my house like some nurses on the Whats happening at Ahpra forum.
  10. Just had a telephone interview for a midwifery position, willing to provide state nomination for 190 visa ( I need this for the extra points).
  11. Just applied to Anmac, I will email you the document of what is required.
  12. Not sure about exact docs as it doesn't seem to let you know until you submit the application form , but there is a template on Anmac website stating the exact reference required.
