  1. A friend of mine had a rural job offer in place pending registration...General trained with diploma and several years experience, was turned down due to the diploma. She has been informed that she must do the bridging visa. currently looking into the bridging course. I think they are 3 months. 1 of my colleagues has completed the bridging course in melbourne.
  2. Hi Lisa, We are currently on 457 visa. Cost depends on what type of school u send ur kids to and how old they are. We initially tried the local high school, they wanted about $15,000 per yr up front payment. We shopped around and found that the private schools (catholic) are actually cheaper, and we pay in monthly instalments. It does vary depending on age. For high school it's roughly $500 per month for high school and for the primary school we pay roughly $400 per term for primary. I would do research before hand. We are not catholic but were accepted, kids had to do an interview. The teaching is of a higher standard aswell. Hope this helps Paul
  3. Apparently Brisbane is not so gd for nurses atm, not many jobs from what i've heard. NSW & WA are screaming out for nurses
  4. Car is a must, we are rural and went 6 weeks without a car....thin it nearly killed the kids walking everywhere...public transport is poor and unreliable at best Now that the heat is coming we couldn't survive without the car...

  7. I've seen on telly that they can gamma irradiate untreated wooden objects (nothing to declare), dunno if this is true or not for shipping, but will be intrigued to find out as we have some wooden furniture, shipping coming on 11th june. gd luck with ur move
  8. It could be that the system is down for maintenance, sorry am not sure what to suggest... We are going on a 457

  11. Medicals have been found and are awaiting assessing. So they have been sat on someones desk for the past 4 weeks. The email stated that they are processing from the 19th March... Funny then how, Mrs Rooney has had hers assessed and finalised.... Well at least its found... thanks for all the info guys
  12. Thanks Pegibson, will email them to see what the script is. My wife has been emailing the CO, who said he has emailed the HOC to start an internal investigation, also stated he would seek advice from his team leader....so the wait and panic remains...
  13. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Both myself and wife are applying for 457 visa. Need medicals as we are both nurses. Medicals were completed on 23rd April, sent on 25th April and wifes were finalised on 26th. They were sent electronically by the Hospital. We both received separate letters stating same. We thought that my medicals could have been referred as I have an ongoing medical condition. On emailing case officer, we were informed he was on annual leave until 13th May. He has now returned and confirmed that my medicals Health Operation Centre claim they have not received. Has anyone experienced this with HOC? Thanks
