1. Thanks for the replies have tried all this and no further along bank have said even if I have money in my account the visa debit card has a daily limit of 2000 euro and transaction won't go through. Credit card company took one week to get back to us about extending limit for one transaction and have come back req about as much paperwork as we need for the visa !!!!! Only have till the 1/9 to try to get this through or visa application will go up by another 1000 it's crazy when I have the money Sitting there but can't pay it
2. Hi all - looking for some help re this I am all set everything ready to submit 189 online. Visa cost family of 5 is AUD6885 €5700 Is the only option of payment a visa card. Our visa card limit is only 2000 and banks refusing to increase it for this transaction even though we can lodge the money before hand???? dont ask bank policy or something Any ideas - how are others paying this amount? For larger families it will be difficult to make one transaction for that amount. Thanks
3. just got visa invite. Submitted EOI 24/6 and had 60 points
4. I am not even going to take the time to type a reply to what I consider to be a rude, insensitive and downright stupid comment. But everyone to their own opinion and all.
5. Ah yeh that would be perfect . It's more expensive for me as they will both be in full time so would reach the 7500 Rebate cap quite quickly. A years care will cost 46,800 and I will only get 15,000 back so it will be 31,800 a yer for the two younger so if you break that down daily will be 87.00 a day and then 22. For my eldest in aftershool so will be 100.00 a day after rebate.
6. Thanks for replies. I will be the main earner for a while until husband gets work. I only have the children in 2 day childcare here in Ireland, a childminder comes to the house and that costs 80 euro a day which is 114 aud. but your right if I was to put them into a crèche here I would not be able to afford it. AJ do you just pay half the fees until you reach the 7500 rebate amount and then have to pay full fees For rest of the year?
7. We are looking at child Care costs at the moment. We have 3 children age 8,3,1. Cannot believe how expensive childcare is going to be. People are saying you get 50 percent back IF on a permanent visa but that has a cap of 7500 per child. so really looking at just the 2 youngest at full time day care 450 a week each that's 900 a week so 46,800 a year. And then we get 15,000 back ( 7500 per child) so childcare a year for these 2 will be 31,800 ??? Is that right? 2650 a month!!!Just for the 2 youngest please tell me I am missing something here? I will be on a salary of 65,000 giving me a net income monthly oF just over 4000 so nearly all my salary will pay for childcare.
8. Thank you all so much for your kindness in taking the time to reply - it is really helpful to see others opinions. We have researched this for the last 7 years sorry if that hasn't come across. I am daily on this site and others looking at others posts. We have looked at costs even done a food shop online, ikea online and even contacted schools and crèches re charges. My friends have been advising about rental areas and costs to expect . I am a Social worker so my job is in demand and I have also made contact with one of the main hospitals in Melbourne and had an Interview here in Dublin And a job offer from DHSS although I am trying to steer clear of child protection as have 7 years medical experience. We do plan to bring about 40,000 aud with us Hopefully so will have some money to settle. What i am worried about re the visa is that i will pay the 6000 and then decide not to go so it would be money down the drain. Our friends are both self employed in Melbourne and have chosen this they say due to benefits or tax breaks etc they set up a company and contract under the ccompany. But you are right that noone can tell me what to do I don't know I am just going to have to decide somehow. Niamh y I wish you all the best in your move it certainly seems the right thing for you . Your right in a way that I have it handy here in relation to childcare and it has taken me a long time to get to this stage. 7 years studying so I could get a high enough wage so I could just work part time and then alot of luck getting a great job. Your also right about all the job insecurity being on my husbands side and this must be tremendous pressure for him. He does well he is very good at his work I just wish the Irish government and revenue and vat would cut self employed people a bit of slack but they are full on. We hope to leave the doors open to return if we go. My sister has agreed to look after our house and the renting out of that. I guess until we are on the plane like you Niamh y we will wonder well I will wonder whether we are doing the right thing.
9. Thanks for the replies guys. Will be going over on permanent visa either 189 or 190 so that would be a good thing as could get childcare rebate and not be dependent on an employer. And your right Sammy1 i am worried, i am a worrier !!! Have so many extra grey hairs thinking about this... but equally i worry that if we stay i will regret not trying, that in the future we will be in a bad position and i will think god we should have gone..I am indecisive at the best of times and this decision has now been going on 7 years......now thats indecisive!!but it is make or break time now as visa is now going to cost us close to 6000 euro as have three children. Caz sorry to hear ye are struggling too. Hoepfully things will pick up or you can find work. I like you some days think oh it will be great so glad i am getting out of here but then other days nearly pull my hair out with the stress of it all. Renting out our house is only covering the interest but we agreed this with bank maybe you could too if you are going. My husband is self employed photographer but he does alot of work for a company here that have an office in melbourne. They have said if we move over he can also do work for them in Melbourne office so he will have a start anyway and then hopefully secure a job. He feels we have no future here and is willing to gamble it all he says for a future. We have friends in melbourne and they have made very successful lives for themselves out there and are always telling us we are mad and should move over. They moved over 8 years ago though and by the looks of things melbourne has gone alot more expensive since then. Wish i could be braver..
10. Reasons for staying: - Parents and family close by - If parents got ill could care for them would feel so guilty not being here - Children have family support - Only have to work 2 day week will be full time in Australia - Can take summers off to spend with kids (parental leave) - Can travel to Europe - Have great childminder for children on the two days I need to work - in Oz will have to get crèche or childminder don't know yet - children have good friends and good primary school to go to - love my job Reasons to go: - may get to purchase a house quicker in oz. Here we are Stuck with a house we cannot sell in negative equity - so we rent that out at the moment and rent another house. - Impossible for us to buy a property in the foreseeable future (next ten yrs) so will have to rent for most of the kids lives. - Husband is self employed - not many perks to that here . Bank wont touch us for loans. If he gets sick we will have no income. No opportunities for him at this time to get a job ( he has 2 degrees in environmental and natural sciences and also a degree in photography with ten years of running own business) may get a job out there or set up himself again more benefits To being self employed in oz I hear. - feel Ireland is going downhill worry for children's future here. Talk of not coming out of recession for 10 years - alot of kids hanging around street corners not the future I hope for for my kids. Alot of bullying, drugs, alcohol as nothing for them to do really - adventure for our family , we only live once we know what's here. - could be better life for us over there, stable jobs, purchase a house. - having had a difficult childhood which alot of people heard about at the time (extended family, parents neighbours) I would love to just start afresh where nobody knew what had happened to me. A clean slate to start over .
11. Hi Chr1s07 I had applied previously for state sponsorship to Victoria - got accepted but was unable to take it up at that time. I plan to reapply now. I know it did take about 10 weeks before. I think the 12 weeks is the longest it will take. Probably different states maybe quicker. My understanding is once you get sponsorship you are then automatically invited to apply for 190 visa, so you can not apply until then. You would have nothing to lose by applying for state sponsorship and if it comes through before your invite for 189 happy days but if your invite for 189 comes first you just accept that invitation. It is hard to know how many back logged 60 points they have in the system. Will be interesting to see the reports for 15/7 round to see if anyone with 60 points got an invite. Fingers crossed for you - nothing worse than being in a job you don't want to be in.
12. I too submitted my eoi middle of June 60 points - no word yet. From looking around web people seem to be saying there is a big backlog of occupations that had reached their ceiling and have now been reopened since 1st July. Jobs like system analyst etc... I have seen a few people who have submitted way before me haven't been invited yet. So I am guessing I am far down the queue , going to apply for state sponsorship

Eoi

Hi invites are held first Monday of every month, if there is a second round these are held on third Monday of the month (15th July this month) Depends on your points 65 plus nearly always get an invite people with 60 have to wait. I have 60 points didn't get invited last round hoping maybe to get invited next couple of months - hopefully
14. Congrats again think I may have to wait and hope for next round well done being another step closer
15. Congrats, we are waiting on an invite. I am right I presume that if we haven't got an email by now then we haven't made it this round does anyone know? Save me being up all night checking the email account. I am assumin maybe all invites go at midnight oz time so would have got it by now.....
16. Thanks tcrejbf, just logged on at midnight to get results and got it. Got 8.5 listening, 9.0 reading, 9.0 speaking, and 8.5 writing. So happy and glad I will never have to sit that test again
17. Ahhhh have been waiting two months to Resit my IELTs, lost out on all 8's by 0.5 in reading. Now I have woke up smothered with a cough and a cold.... This is not going to be a fun test at all can't believe it
18. Hi, Yes we accepted and originally where asked to submit EOI by 31/8 however due to pregnancy they kindly extended this to 15/10 to allow me to sit IELTS after birth of my son. They said extensions are granted depending on individual circumstances Good luck with it.
19. Hi there, we far in exact same situation only sponsorship. For Victoria runs out tomorrow :? I just missed out .5 in last IELTS test so only have 55 points. So we have lost sponsorship this time taken a step back from it all now so disheartened - hate IELTS
20. Thanks Rupert no it was the reading section. I got 8.5 in other category's but 7.5 in reading! Did find it very tricky on the day. Yes think I will have to admit defeat on this one and resit the IELTS. Unfortunately I will lose my Vic Ss as they said they won't extend it so I will have to reapply for that again. Ah well back to the starting line again One step forward ten back at this stage.
21. Thanks for the reply guys. The main problem is that because my contract is 17 hours anything I ever worked over that was never paid as it was never official.. I am clutching at straws here but I wonder if it is hours they are interested in would the fact I actually did 40 hours a week for 2 yrs 9 months not count as that is twenty hours extra than they are looking for week. For example they are looking for someone with 20 hours a week with three years experience that equates to 3120 hours work. Where in fact I did Two years nine months at 40 hours a week that's More like 5700 hours plus all the part time ones on top. Any ideas would this argument stand up?
22. Hi all, I just did another post gutted where I have missed out on ten points I needed on bloody ielts test. I needed all 8's and got one 7.5 I am searching the points test to see could I claim points elsewhere. I have worked as a social worker for over four years so could claim 5 points I need for skilled experience. However it states you must work a 20 hour week. I worked a 40 hour week for 2 years 9 months however then moved to parttime 17 hour week for the next 1 year 4 months. However contract was for 17 hours a week I mostly did work over this. How strict are Diac on this?
23. Lakaal

Gutted :(

Just got IELTS results - needed all 8's I got

Listening: 8.5

Reading: 7.5

Writing: 8.5

Speaking: 8.0

Typical. My Vic Ss approval only valid if I submit EOI by 14/10. So looks like I missed out
24. Thanks all for the replies, I guess I have some thinking to do!!! On way into town to do ielts test now... The problem is after almost seven years of discussions about moving over after living for a year and meeting ny husband in sydney many things have been put ion hold in our life even discussions about oz turn into arguments at this stage... But thanks for advice will try to get hubby to sit down and run through it all again. He would be more go for the adventure type, however with 3 young kids under six I worry that it is selfish to cause such a change to them for this reason Alone. I too wellers am a qualified social worker and will be the main applicant however all my experience is in medical setting so want to avoid child protection. Anyway off I go to do Ielts and see how I get on.
