North lakes is known as little Britain! It's very much like a big housing estate. Beautiful newly built houses that you can rent that you could never afford to rent in England ( well I couldn't lol) and a very big English community. But it all looks the same. I think it's a good idea to move a little away from there and travel into work

No no no noooooo don't move to Bethania, Beenligh or Logan they are not nice places. Bad crime. Worked in a daycare centre in one of the towns just named and it was awful. i did meet some nice people while living in the area but also some not so nice charectors. We have since moved to Sunshine Coast and are much happier.

I am in currimundi. It's lovely having a dog beach 10 mins walk from my house with a lake 5 mins walk! And lots of other nice beaches local. I also like the glass house mountains. We are debating moving there when our lease is up but it's a hard desision.....where ever we end up next air con in the house is a MUST!!

Our 2 jack Russell's went crazy! Happy crazy when we let them out the crate...it was great . One was a little thinner,the other a little fatter lol think she stole the other ones food.....3 weeks later the younger one (2years old ) died we don't know why

Hi everyone! I live in Currimundi. Ive been here 1.5 years but still need to make some friends does anyone like to do outdoor activities? I like running. I'm going to try a triathlon club next week ( but I am a rubbish swimmer and only own a mountain bike) so don't know how well this will go!! Also attempting to surf but I am quite a chicken when I see a wave coming my way. If anyone is keen on trying some of these activities with me or have another idea would be nice Amy

Oh and a cockerel is definitely called a rooster here, the staff at work heard me talking to the children about cockerels yesterday and soon put me right on that one lol

A nursery is day care. When looking for a job when we first arrived I wrote on my resume that I had been a manager of a nursery and was getting no replies. I found out in Queensland it is a director and daycare. As soon as changed it to the right terminology over here I got replies!

It feels like its been forever, I know getting the qualifications recognised isn't part of the visa process but all that time just seems like it has gone on and on and on! And we did all the paper work our selves with no agent so I am very pleased with myself

Timeline .....a long time! This time last year my work place offered to sponsor me but first I had to get my qualifications recognised. This took months to do, having to get statements from previous employers in England. Once they were recognised my employer lodged their side of paper work march/April and got approved pretty quick we lodged ours 28th April I think we got CO in may. She asked for more evidence.last week we discovered we had no CO anymore. got new CO on Thursday and approved today :biggrin: Tasmas, what kind of dog have you got in your pic...it looks very very similar to my dog who is a rescue dog so we don't know what she is!

Yey I got a new CO today! But he is asking me for 4 pieces of evidence I have already submitted! Anyway I will re send them tonight and hope to have a yes very soon

As soon as I get a new co I will give them a call....worth a try! I was going to call the other one but chickened out as the advise is always dont contact them they will contact you.

Nope, I emailed y co Monday to ask f she required anything else( just as a gentle reminder that I'm still here and waiting! ) and I got a reply to day say this lady was no longer my co I will get a new one soon and they will contact me if they need any further info

Just found out I no longer have a case officer have to wait for a new one

Hi SonicBlue82, I know just how you feel, my time scale is roughly the same as yours. The company who are going to sponser me have had their side cleared and are constantly asking me about mine because they want me to start! I have had a co for a few months, she asked for a couple of things which I gave straight away and now hear nothing. I'm obsessed with checking my emails( hundreds of times aday!) and get disappointed every time to find nothing. I don't think I be ever been so stressed in all my life and know one around me understands the stress of this...only people like you on here.,

I have just commented on someone else's post about my 2 dogs. One confident 7 year jack Russell no problems flying or quarantine. But my 2 year old jack Russell who got nervouse with new situations, hated cars, scared of men and noise died 3 weeks after coming out of quarantine. We had debated leaving her in England but couldn't bear to leave and thought she would get over and forget the experience. I don't know why she died but can't help but think maybe it was to much for her to cope with and I put her through to much and often wish now that I left her with my neighbour who loved her as much as us.

I brought my two jack Russell's with me as I couldn't / wouldn't have moved without them, however I was in two minds about bringing the youngest one as she didnt like traveling in a car let alone traveling in a car from Yorkshire to London then on a plane. Not only that but she was scared of most men and was a nervous dog in any new situation. My neighbour loved her so much and was heartbroken when I said she was coming with us as I think he would have kept her! But I figured it would be hard or her but she would get over the stress. 3 weeks after coming out of quarantine she died at only 2 years old. I'm still not over it, I don't know why she died...she struggled to go for a run when in England she ran marathons with me! So was the whole process to much for a nervouse dog? Or maybe some Australian creature poisoned her! I will never know but I do sometime wish now I had let my neighbour care for her.....my other dog is as fit and healthy as ever and loving the beach

I lodged my 187 last week, is the medical compulsory? Or is it just if asked? I had a medical last year for my husbands student visa if they ask for one do you think I can use that? Also we are applying for this visa onshore, do you think that makes the processing time quicker?

Hi,I have received a letter to say TRA have got my application but would this of had a number or something on it for me to check the Portal? I want to join in!! I sent it in January. Think I'm going to dig out the letter and read it again!

That's so sad did something sting him or was it his age. It's the most awful experience loosing you dog unexpectedly, I lost my dog last year unexpectedly and it still hurts that she is no longer with me. RIP Louie x

I think we all feel the same worrying about our dogs not been able to get out the crate for 30 hours, been in the dark and handled by strangers it's a terrible feeling but I know I would feel worse,and worry about them more giving them to a new family to look after? My dogs haven't had rabies injection so will look at the link thanks

Hi sorry to hijack your post Thistle 13! My future here is very uncertain at the moment and if we do have to return to England my 2 dogs have to come with me!!! What's the score with returning home with dogs, do they have to go into quarantine? 1 dog is originally from England and the other is from here. By the way I arrived here 18 months ago with 2 jack Russell's and Jasmin who unfortunately died after been out of quarantine 3 weeks was such a nervous dog , would run away when she new she was going in a car and did not like men, managed fine... I didn't! But she seemed to get over the travel and 1 month in quarantine well. It will be very hard for you. Handing your dog over but she will get over it and it will be much better for you to still have her with you in England!
