fantastic!! it feels like we've come such a long way in just a month. when i think back to how stressed I was preparing all the paperwork, the waiting feels easy! Have you flown with Etihad before?

Laura k & Gwyndra; I can only imagine how you are feeling! It must be so difficult to be away from your OH. I'm a dual citizen, so have been living with my OH in the UK for the past 4 years (we have a little boy who's almost 2). I hate waiting, but it must be so much harder for you. Gwyndra: It took a really long time for you to get a case officer! Do you think this was due to the Christmas Holiday period? Laura k: If waiting made your application stronger, it will be worth it, and you'll be back with OH before you know it. Dont worry, September will come around in no time!! Perhaps the March gang should charter a plane in October!!! :biglaugh:

yep. i'm going to very patient and wait for the visa. although, i'm going to start photographing our stuff this weekend and slowly start selling all of our non-essentials on ebay as we dont intend to ship everything. that should keep me busy for a few months! :wacko:

20E per document? :no: yikes. my boss did mine for free. although I'm sure she'd probably strangle me if I asked her to certify anything else. :laugh: When does everyone want to be in Australia by (obviously pending a VISA approval). We're aiming for the end of November.

Thats true. Peach, with regard to UK police checks, what service did you use. We are sending the forms on Monday and I notice there is 'normal' or 'priority' service. Tempted to use the priority service...:unsure:

If you've paid the agent to act on your behalf and communicate with you, I'd be demanding more than that!! This is the second time I've seen someone say the agent only talks to them when they have to. I'm not saying they should be a counselling service, but surely they should be giving you a little update regularly? You've paid them your hard earned money afterall... Either way Laura k....I'm still on the edge too, and I didnt use an agent. :laugh:It is a painstaking process waiting on something that you have no guarantees of receiving. :wideeyed:

Great to see how quickly its all happened for you!! By the looks of things, no messing about at all! So I take it the date they gave you means you'll be approved?? I cant understand why they cant just give you the approval on the spot if they have already said they will approve it! :err:

Looks like there are quite a few of us in March!!! If you then consider how many people dont go on forums, I now realise why it takes them 6 months to consider the visas....they must be really, really busy! We are going to live with my sister on the sunshine coast and then plan to live in the north lakes area. :smile:

That sounds about right. Ours is on 1 April and is costing £296. I think that brings the total cost of everything 'visa related'; just short of £1500... bargain!:swoon: Big hug from me to all of you too! :hug: Sinead...your hug almost strangled me....something tells me your a *wee* bit excited! :wink:

Hi Laura We're not using an agent, we put it together ourselves (painful). Congrats on getting a CO! :v_SPIN: I'm banking on a full six months, that way anything sooner will be a bonus!! :yes:

ha ha, i know.... 5 months isnt that long, right? :twitcy: I'm just still buzzed cause we've finally sent it away. We initially printed out the forms to have a look at what we needed to gather about a year ago. I've never been so pleased in my life to see money taken from my bank account!:cute: BTW did you include photos? I included photocopies of pictures of us when we first met and then pictures of us as a family, not loads though.

WOW. I hope he does the same on the flight. He has never been on a plane before! I was taken to australia as a 4 year old and was there till i came for a holiday here 5 years ago! I miss it like mad. Scotland is a lovely place, but its not home for me and OH is desperate to get out to australia too (he's spent a few months there with me and my family whilst i was pregnant). I'm getting frustrated now. It would appear I'm not getting a CO assigned today! I'm going to have to switch my laptop off for 5 months, cause i'm going to end up crazy! :wacko: oh and that was economy prices

I submitted one with my application as I stumbled over a couple of online forums with people saying they had submitted one. TBH I dont know if they'll even use it. If you need one, they'll ask for it, so maybe fill one out ready to go in case.

Best I've seen is £849 for singapore airlines, one way. I also am never ever coming back. My OH's family can come and visit us!! My little monkey turns 2 in may, so he's gonna need a seat too. He's how you say, a 'spirited' child. God help the other passengers. (No pun intended :laugh:) FIrst class? I'm uber jealous. ...maybe I'll win euromillions tonight...:unsure: So your mum is here? Interesting. My mum and dad are in sydney. Lots of my mum and dad's family are still here (i was born here).

...your circumstances are near identicle to ours. if you say you came over here to travel 5 years ago...met your man and never left, its getting spooky! we are thinking october too. flights are not cheap!! i want to go business class, but i'm too tight! :biglaugh:

nope! keep checking my email....why? HAVE YOU? :shocked: just got all ready to go out for walk and the heavens have opened yet again. fantastic. probably a good thing...we've got the thomas set out so he didnt want to go anyway! lol i know what you mean, after the cost of flights, paying everything off and organising everything we need when we get there, our savings will be modest! Thankfully we can live with my sister and her family when we get there. We plan to stay with her for two months, although she said she thought we'd stay for a year (hopefully that wont be required). :tongue:

we did it ourselves. we simply couldnt afford to use an agent, so it never came into the equation. we've been together over 4 years, have a child together and were able to evidence it all, so even if we did have extra cash lying around, i still would have done it myself. as long as everything they need is there, everything will be fine, so dont worry. they assign a case officer so that someone can liaise directly with you and make sure your application is complete, so if something isnt there, they'll tell you soon enough. :smile: i thought long and hard about taking our stuff with us. i brought all of my stuff over from australia 4 years ago. apart from the long wait for it to arrive, in the end i felt it wasnt worth it especially as my bed and television cabinet were damaged. my washing machine, fridge/freezer and microwave all died a death within 12 months (and they were reasonably new). i've got a brand spanking new washing machine and tumble drier here....so someone on ebay will get a good deal!
