  1. Try contacting Shire's, (Local Governments) as they normally require Tradesmen staff for things like building Maintenance Managers etc, and in regional areas good tradies are at a premium. Shire's normally advertise on their websites, or in the West Australian, Geraldton Guardian or the Mid West Times. Plus in smaller shires you get to do alsorts of other stuff, like driving graders and dozers etc. Anyway good luck, and don't loose hope.
  2. Hi Mahibul, it was non DRC. It was a subclass 187 Regional Sponsored Subclass visa, I managed to speak to the DIAC rep for regional sponsorship, who was really helpful. She has since been transferred to a new department but I got her details through the regional body that certifies the job is suitable for sponsorship. Might be worth speaking discussing with the person sponsoring.
  3. Hi, myself and my partner have recently come through the 186 Visa. Another Visa is you can qualify might be a business visa, if youhave owned your own hairdressers, you might be eligible for that visa, I don't know the full in's and out's but might be worth a look. The only problem with Hairdressing and the 186 Visa is the employer having to show the need to sponsor a skilled worker and that they can't recruit locally. As Rupert says if you have a niche skill that might be the way to go with a 186 visa. Good Luck.
  4. Our RSMS visa timeline lodged in July 2012, Case Officer Appointed November 2012 Visa granted on 11th December 2012. This was through the Perth Centre of Excellence who manage the RSMS stuff over West. If you send a blank e-mail to the address on your receipt, it will give you a rough guide as to the processing times for the visa. Goopd luck.
  5. Hi Rose861, Both myself and my partner came over to Australia on a WHV, my background is Public Relations and Marketing, and my partner was an administrator in the civil service. There is short term roles which recruitment agencies would consider you for, my partner got 1 month contract for a major multinational company. I got work at a university for a month as well working in a book shop. (Not quite what I had in mind but was money none the less.) This kept us going till I secured a full time sponsored job. The main advice I would give you is go to the boutique recruitment agents, as we had far more choice. BUt there is Hayes and we found DFP Recruitment to be awsome in Perth, and they have offices over East as well. Good luck with it all, and keep the dream alive.
  6. Hi GeorgeD thank you very much for your feedback. Much appreciated. Hope you have a good evening.
  7. Hi Saw this thread and it got me wondering: Myself and my fiance are going back to the UK in August to get married, we are on a 186 regional employer sponsored visa at the moment. Do we need to apply for a visa to come back into Australia? We have bee on our current visa since 11th December 2012. I am a bit confused by the info on the website. We will be back in the UK for 6 weeks before returning to work. Thanks in advance.
  8. There are plenty of sport and arts jobs, however as VERYSTORMY says below do you qualify for a visa? Art and Sport positions tend not to get sponsored so much as there is a lot of competition for jobs unless you have the experience and skills for a high performance manager job, or CEO etc. But check out www.sportspeople.com.au for sports jobs and check out Community Arts Network Western Australia for information on art related things. You might want to consider community development as you get to do a good mix of sport, art, culture, tourism etc with local government. Good luck
  9. Hi Yilmazve We have just had our 186 visa granted which is the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme, where the employer sponsors you. If you are looking to stay in WA I would suggest looking North around the Geraldton Area, as there are plans afoot for a new data and technology centre, and speaking to a number of colleagues in the area, there is a real issue of getting skilled IT workers in this area. Geraldton and the Mid West Region are also one of the first to gain access to the National broadband Network, and they sponsor a high number of staff. Might be worth a look. Don't lose faith and keep the dream alive.
  10. Hi Nicolac34, much appreciated. Probably a blessing and a curse, as the job is awesome. Thanks again.
  11. Hi Long time lurker third time poster. Can anyone help? I am being sponsored under the RSMS employer sponsored visa, the visa was lodged in July 2012 I am expecting to hear about the result in February. I am currently on a bridging visa until the results are known. Does anyone know if the two years working for the sponsoring employer start from when the visa is granted? Or is it from when you started working with the organisation? As my contract is 4 years but I am already nearly a year into it. But there are some really exciting jobs coming up in the next couple of years. Thank you in advance for answering my question.
