No offence but why the fascination with North Lakes? So many people on this forum loooove North Lakes, if you want to live in a rabbit hutch, enjoy. Sorry rant over.......
  3. Rain and flood risk? It is Queensland, it floods inland as well, and in low lying areas?
  4. Each to their own but North Lakes is congested, confined and too populated for my tastes, but what the hell, loads of poms seem to like it there so who am i to judge.. Would avoid it like the plague.....
  5. This has good reports this school: http://www.livingfaith.qld.edu.au/s/ and is down Brays Rd, just off Anzac Avenue, 5 mins from North Lakes/Mango Hill. And also 3 minutes from my house. A note of warning......there is NO train line built yet and it appears nothing is on the horizon. This is QLD ok? :-) living in North Lakes....a car is a MUST
  6. G'day all, not been on here for a while, living the dream north of Brisbane right now. Anyone on here had experience of being a fly in fly out nurse? Mental health working specifically?
  7. Hi lovely PIO member,s we are moving, live north of brisbane CBD and need boxes for our stuff, having thrown them all out like fools a while ago! So, anyone have any willing to collect whenever suits you. North or south of Brisbane CBD? Cheers
  8. You need the IELTS test period........ good luck!
  9. I think as far as AHPRA states then yes they are correct in saying that there is a period of time to do it and then you have to start from scratch. Please PM me if you wish to correspond as I don't pick up notifications unless you quote a post and i dont' use this site much anymore! Look forward to hearing from you. Cheers!
  10. Ok, 1.Send ALL documents to AHPRA 2. They send 'letter of eligibility' 3. Attend AHPRA office, show ID and proof of visa. 4. Your name appears on register. They will e-mail you to tell you it was doen. Took me five days for name to show up. Voila, I have just done it and am now in Brisbane.....very very simple. If you are unsure of anything call AHPRA and avoid all the hearsay and gossip...... Good luck!!
  11. Google is your friend!!! http://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/Internationally-Qualified-Nurses-and-Midwives.aspx
  12. yes, yes and yes. Call AHPRA about IELTS as they change goalposts, but might as well cover all avenues and do it anyway. I needed it for AHPRA, and sent info from my seondary school, gcse's etc. get it info from horses mouth!! This forum is awesome but anything official go through the right channels.....
  13. read the guidelines on the Agos-04 form....it states something about each employer needing to give references. Don't quote me on it, but check as that rings bells
  14. Yep.....looks like the IELTS for proof of English (see below). I had to, they would accept no substitute, just remembered my secondary ed letter was meaningless to them and I submitted in person all my documents at the Adelaide AHPRA office. E-mail them to be sure........... http://www.ahpra.gov.au/Registration/Registration-Process/Registration-Requirements.aspx
  15. Just contact them and ask them to send it to your home address? My uni had no need to send it on? It was my course and merely a copy of my certificate and transcipts. can't shed light, other than request it be sent to you. State that you need it 'certified' first and this has to be done before it is submitted?
  16. I also sent letters from secondary ed to confirm that I was taught in english. Sounds like they want IELTS test results.?? Have you done the IELTS test? they (apparently) keep changing the goalposts on this one. Check, if so find your nearest test centre by using Google. Don't be disheartened, remember they are under no obligations and we have to keep jumping through the hoops. Our motto was if it didn't need doing....we did it anyway!!! By any means... Also, it HAS to be a Justice of the Peace, contact local court house or search Google for Public Notary. Again, jump the hoops and follow all requests word for word.
  17. They just mean that if you are registred as a nurse in the UK then they can help. What I did was send all documents to AHPRA,contact NMC and ask them to send confirmation of my registration, you give them the AHPRA office address in whichever Australian office you have sent documents, and voila! You have now given AHPRA proof that you are UK registered, simple as. Think NMC charge a fee, not much though. When I called them there was a specific department that they transferred me to and they sent out the form, only short and one sided. Pay fee, enter AHPRA address, takes a few days and they post direct. Hope that helps, don't be confused by it all!

  21. anything you want when you get there send by voovit.com , they are quite cheap for air freight. that is our plan anyway, 3 kids and 457 visa! great thread and some sound advice
  22. It has to be a DIAC approved panel doctor as approved on their list on the immigration website. Thats what I am led to believe. I am also a nurse due to have medicals in London. Don't cut corners with immigration to save money, we are just doing it to the letter. They hold our future plans in their hands
  23. No, usually the justice of the peace who signs it has a little stamp and he will mark '1 0f 4' pages and just stamp the front of the document so long as he has seen the originals. That was my experience anyway
  24. congrats!! dotting grandad ;-) nice one
  25. Interesting Q as you have already worked in Oz, so there must be a way of them recognising this? Call them. the AHPRA reg forms are on their site. I have found that mine took about 3 months to process, but I was lucky in that I submitted in person whilst on hols in Adelaide. I don't have degree nursing, post grad dip in MH (leads to RMN) ......and my other qualifications were helpful, but not essential. def worth applying from UK though! just phone, the e-mails I initially received were vague and confusing also!"
