  1. The UK will not exit...there will be some heavy pressure put on the 17% undecided in the days prior to voting..
  2. No offence meant...just found it funny that it gets more confusing, my point being that if you let it out then it is not your residence, I think you need a tax adviser to make sure you get the best deal..good luck
  3. You already stated that you rented it out for 5 years..Haha
  4. Tax Advisers are plentiful, have a google for one in your area........good luck Keep us posted
  5. I have sold a flat in U.K in past 12 months, I gave the details to a UK tax adviser to do the right thing... after claiming my allowance of 11,100 pounds ( poss more for u if in joint names ) I paid 18% ( more if you're a higher rate tax payer, of course, ) on the profit...difference between purchase and sale..... also remember you have a tax free threshold in your favour in Uk.....!! I would recomend a tax adviser to make sure you get it right...What is your profit..??? Good luck
  6. My Parents came to the UK in the fifties and still called Kerry "home"....up to 2003 anyway after 40/50 years, they would never have gone back to Eire to live though, If you want to go back home, then do so, life is too short to be sad....I/we may do so in a few years time...it is only a plane ride away, good luck anyway..!!
  7. If u can afford "Willie" then go for it long term....it is far better than anywhere else in West Melb...heritage buildings, harbour, "beach", pubs with live bands etc.......defo better than the "cheaper for a reason" surrounds....good luck
  8. I live in Epping and have got on to the CREEK TRAILS a lot..!! Have a look at the off road paths that run along side any creeks that you can find...great for a walk or cycle...Cheers
  9. GURKHAS EXPRESS in Flinders st..............other end from station...Nepalese and great..!!
  10. We spent a year in Melbourne a couple of years ago...are going back over next month , am going to ship some thermals this time, the weather is same as U.K as between March and October i would say, so not too cold, go for it..good luck
  11. If you want to go to Oz, you will be taking a chance, but that is what life is all about...!!! Do your best to make a success and make sure you've got your plane fare to come home if you need to, It will be a life experience and character building whatever happens Good luck with your adventure
  12. a nice area, new builds all over, carefully laid out streets and greenspace, all too new for some though, a nice shopping centre, an area ideal for nice families, the station is a bit away from Point Cook, not too walkable from most of the dwellings...!!! a fast road into town, compared to the burbs of UK big towns, it is very nice and certainly value for money and time, we are looking to buy somewhere down that way, may have to go to Werribbee to be near a station though...good luck
  13. I have lived and driven in SA, QLD, NSW....you cannot do a u turn at a traffic light unless there is a sign that says you can... in Victoria, you CAN do a u turn unless there is a sign that says you can't.....!!!! :arghh:
  14. Hi, we ( missus and me ) are heading to Oz for the 3 rd time, lived there for 6 years, lived in a few places, we are heading to Adelaide as it was our favorite place in Oz...!!! wish you well, Adelaide is a very nice place, you must get out and about, good luck, may see you there, Steve

  16. Good luck, you probably know the web site podiatry-arena.com, government jobs are the holy grail of course but in rural locations, have a look for jobs there, my wife and I are heading back over later in the year, she wants to resume her pod career there... Cheers
  17. Where about in OZ are you heading for...???
  18. Werribee is a great place to visit, a zoo that you see on a train thingy, marvellous rose gardens too..!!!
  19. We were anxious to get out citz last Sept 2013...3 months was the forecast, we had the ceremony on May 21 2014, extenuating circumstances can speed it up, Good luck, S
  20. Hi, we used Ian Ingle, have a look on this link..............he was great, highly recomended by us..cheers http://www.inglemigration.com.au/
  21. Hi, buying a property would be a great idea....you can then travel, rent it out and it will be there when you go back. Coming to oz for a couple of months would be a great option too, it will cost you all your money, but a great trip, Best of luck anyway..
  22. Hi, when you say not Adelaide, not Brisbane, not Perth....there is not much else except Sydney..!! only joking but..... Melbourne is great, we live in Altona, which is out of town and yet close enough, 10 km out of Melbourne is Country...!! Places like Point cook or Werribee are quite popular with new ex pats Geelong would be great if you can do the commute, It is a fair way out..!! the best thing is to head to Geelong and only commit to a 6 month rental and see how you go, you can always move on. Do the right thing legally at all times( pay bills and rents on time etc) and get your references sorted and moving on will not be a problem...... I would say don't bother going anywhere like Wollongong as choices can be very limited Anyway, look after your cash and don't throw it away too quick...enjoy your new adventure....
  23. Be sure to stop off at COFF'S HARBOUR..!! we have spent 6 months there, it is nice, go to the jetty and look at the beaches and small cafes restaurants etc.... Maybe on a sunday morning you can visit the jetty markets too.. Go up to the view point and see the aircraft land.....all good stuff, good luck..S
