1. Hi guys, Firstly CShowell what a great post! I too am leaving for a life down under this Thursday and I too am having really mixed emotions. Like techcs says one day I cant wait and the next really apprehensive and what the hell was I thinking! What makes it even worse is that I've just come out of a 5 year relationship to do this. So there really isn't a lot of pressure at all!! What I don't want is have regrets for the rest of my life. I know if I don't at least try it I will. If I'd have stayed there would have been a lot of resentment! You only get one life and that's it! I'm heading Perth way. I Just hope its not too quiet...
 2. Thanks everyone for all your input. I really do appreciate it. I'm flying to Perth on Thursday and it was a toss up between there and Sydney. By the sounds of things I'm not sure I'll be staying in Perth for Long!
 3. Thanks Fifi, really appreciate your comments. I'm a 39 year old professional. I've been before for a visit and loved it for its serenity in comparison to the east coast but I'm really worried its going to be too quiet for me. Holidaying and living are completely different things. I do have a friend there in Fremantle and even he said that its very much more for families. It's been playing on my mind as I've just come out of a relationship and I need it to be relatively busty too keep my mind off things...
 4. Hi guys, Just wanted a heads up on what Perth was like for singletons? By the sounds of things its not that brilliant Any advice would be greatly apprecited Jad

Guys,

Got a big dilemma. My OH has a child who is 14 and is refusing to come. My OH is dead against leaving her here. My problem is that my skilled migration visa is only valid till end of Jan 2013. My OH wants her to finish her education and then go which will unfortunately mean letting the visa go unless I can persuade them which is looking very unlikely. If this happened, would Australian immigration frown upon this and not give out another?

Hi guys,

I have a big problem.

I'm already 3 years into a 5 year skilled migration visa which is due to expire in Feb 2013. I reside in the UK but had planned to migrate well before it ran out. The trouble is my partners daughter is only 13 and she refuses to move for another 4/5 years until her daughter has finished her education despite numerous attempts to convince her otherwise

If we go after this time my visa will have run out and I feel I will have missed my opportunity. Is there any way to extend the visa until then or will I have to reapply again??
