  1. Anyone whos eaten a Hot Dog cant really be disgusted by this surely!! Like good old Uncle Roman says, "you know what in hot dogs, dont you? Lips and Ass holes!!!" and i eat Haggis from time to time, it cant be worse that that. i actually quite liked the Kangaroo i had, was nice, maybe not in the size i like my Steak though, its pretty rich. One of the young guys at work is Itallian and he eats something called Mortodello, which is some kind of sliced meat like luncheon meat, but made from Horse, or Donkey if its cheap stuff apparenty!! you can get it here but i think its pork and beef.
  2. and thats supposed to be chicken!! Danes eat some wird stuff too
  3. Couple of years ago, while on early shift at work in aberdeen airport, the temp was dropping down close to -25! its not too bad in the drier cold countries but the wet cold in scotland at that level is pretty brutal, and we're not geared up for that. surprise!! cant cope with snow, cold or heat! ridiculous!
  4. yes you can, i saw a bottle a couple of weeks ago. you can buy more lines of bundaberg soft drinks from a small shop in the middle of nowhere in Shetland, its incredible!! regular, diet and lem/lime and bitters! i do buy it from Costco usually though.
  5. Theres no way to make a difinitive conclusion on wether its ok or not here. As someone else said, its dependant on what your circumstances are. if you work in Jessops, HMV or Blockbusters, i doubt youll be whooping in the aisles right now. Honda workers very uncertain. on the other hand, oil and gas industry is recruiting JaguarLandRover doing really well right now adding thousands of jobs, im sure theres other industries that are expanding. but unless you do something in demand, then you might need to retrain. O&G companies recruiting alot of tradesman who have done their access and safety courses. or straight off. but there are also huge regional variation and you have to willing to relocate/commute if you can to get the job sometimes i have a 120 mile round trip every day, and that often the curse here in Scotland. Debating it doesnt really change anything or refute any of that!
  6. you could spec a Mondeo for close to £30k, hardly dream car budget!!!
  7. you could live in NZ long enough to get citizenship then move to Aus!!
  8. Ive wanted to move to australia since i started watching programs like neighbours and the flying doctors, back in the early/mid 90's. when i was about 15, but i got well and trully stuck into australia and what it was about. not long previously my parents had tried unsuccesfully to emigrate to Aus , and i think i took on their enthusiasm. i had a place on a training course to become a pilot with a flying school in 1998. but got offered a job as an apprentice engineer at the same time and took that instead. over the years its been on the back burner till my wife mentioned it and i told her how i felt when i was younger and now we're going. obviously things have drasticly changed since then, but i still like the idea of living around the world. i grew up with my dad living in Oman, and i wanted to do that too, but with my family. Id also like to go to Canada, or the US, i have family in the US but its very difficult to get into, and the pay for Aircraft engineers is pretty poor. My mum is Canadian so i could go to Canada any time, so thats why we're going to Australia first!! it may come to moving to Canada if we dont settle in Aus, since my parents are planning to retire there, and all my mums side of the family(that are left) are there. my wife only has her mum here as he dad, step mum and sister all live on their boat and travel the oceans at there leisure!! currently in sydney in pittwater living at the marina there. wanted down under wasnt on tv when i first wanted to go. my dream job to this day is being Johhno Johnson, and being an RFDS Pilot.
  9. apart from which, your agent is the nominated contact and therefore they may not speak to you, even though its your application.
  10. thanks very much for the info. by the looks of it, i'll prob be putting it in storage. im not particularly attatched to it , but if i can make my money back on it, it'll be good. cost me a lot of money owning it!
  11. how strict are they with the 12 months, i bought my car in june last year looking at moving in may june time, so right on the cusp. its prob going in storage, but might take it if its worthwhile. and able to of course. i have a 2003 Subaru Impreza 2.0 WRX STi type UK with Prodrive Performance Pack fitted, 38000 miles, Aircon, 6 speed. 220KW(305BHP) not the standard 195Kw Paid £10k for it last year. a bit rich but has every scrap of history, low mileage, was 30k when i got it, and is in pristine nick. they are getting rare here in the uk, especially round my way, so will at least hold its value here 2003 WRX STi 195Kw with 150-250000 Kms , Red book says $13-16k trade in and $17-20K private.

That was down to a large OT bill, being qualified at something in demand means i can charge £40h. i voted SNP. more labour that tory, but better than either.
  15. always good to have bank accounts open. easier sometimes to keep them open that open one when you need it. i have a Euro account in Ireland from when i worked for Ryanair. its been empty for years, but you never know. i have an HSBC account that i can link to a branch anywhere in the world and move money at will also.

Interviewed all 2.7million at length have you? you cant rubbuish others opinions when you back your "facts" up with that nonsense. noone has suggested they all want to be on the dole, but you fancy coming here to see all the junkies and scrounging work shy ar$e holes youre welcome to visit. it has to be seen to be believed.

sorry, it wasnt meant to be sarcastic, i just use the ! button a lot. i was actually going along with you. as for the tory remark, i dont vote them either. im sick to death of all of them, unfortunately without maybe a meteor hitting the earth again, were stuck with them wherever we go at they make the rules up to keep themselves in. As for PB, well since you either didnt read what i wrote or choose to ignore it, that is not my opinion at all. i came from a long line of poor families and never had anything handed to me. i worked for what ive got, and now that the government takes more money off me in income tax an NI alone in a year than you prob make, i think im entitled to be a bit miffed when im not rich myself. i dont drive a flashy or new car, its 10 years old, i have a modest house, and ive had one holiday in 2 years for a week. not exactly living the high life!

I realise its not all black and white, and i know what i write may sound harsh and uncaring but where i come from theres too many people who dont deserve any sympathy. (im not talking about the folks on here, im thinking of a certian few Scumbags i know personally!!!) thats not to say i dont have sympathy for everyone who is unemployed or on a low wage, i know theres times when people need help, i needed it when i first started out, but i have paid that back, many times over! some will never do that. and as i said, its supposed to be help to find your feet or keep your head above water, not a career! i can help but feel agrieved sometimes though when bigger and bigger chunks of money leave my paycheck every month before i get anywhere near it!!! i couldnt believe it when i saw how much my employers NI contributions were on top of what i pay, i think people dont see this and dont make a fuss but its ridiculous!! over £6k a year on top of what i pay! My appologies if i sounded harsh to anyone, but i cant help it!!!! i'll play nicely if i can have my opinion! you can probably tell im not a labour supporter!!! i hate them! just watched milliband say he "would not give the country a referendum on europe!" what were you elected for? oh yeah thats right, to represent the people!! not tell them what good for them. goes equally for Cameron and Clegg. Alex Salmond might be a big blowhard fame seeker, but i know he has the interest of scotland genuinely at heart. apart from the EU thing.

Aberdeen is not cheap buy any means, but its all relative if you are making better money. lots of ways into getting offshore, or working onshore for oil companies. ive seen a lot of ads in shop windows looking for people, something im not used to seeing. i was brought up here in arbroath and the unemployment problem here is pretty chronic and the attitudes to match. i live here because our families are here. my sister moved to Glasgow because of no work here and no training opportunities, and i went to aberdeen and the RAF to get a job luckily doing something im interested in. i never wanted to be an engineer, i wanted to be a pilot, but the RAF rejected me because of my eyesight, and i didnt fancy the other way in by borrowing £100K and never knowing if id ever get a job!!! Engineering was a way to stay working with aircraft, and luckily, im good at it.

absolutely not, you dont have to justify anything to me. theres too much of that on this website aleady, people being judged on why they want to move to Australia or vice versa. you say youre happy right now, well theres the difference. i wasnt so i got out of there. but to say its not possible its not correct. i can sympathise with people finding it hard, i went through it myself, as did my parents. my dad lived abroad for 20 years nearly because he had to in order to make a decent living for his family, but had to sacrifice actually being with them. my dad is not the most educated man in the word or the most successful but he made sure he did the best he could for his family and im really proud of him for that. Army has a good philosophy. Train hard, Fight Easy.

Im in arbroath. i travel 120 miles a day round trip to work. i dont know specifically about admin, but theres plenty of work in aberdeen, just have to look in the press and journal jobs page every week. and judging from the cars and house prices in aberdeen, i think theres plenty money going about.

thats because they are training to do something that is already oversubscribed. theres hundreds of thousands of jobs unfilled in the uk because people are encouraged to do what they want not look to do something that will get them a job. the only graduates i know without jobs are the ones who do stupid wooly subjects like media and philosophy.

lucky me? what point about me working full time to pay the bills and still studying and you working full time and not having time is different? i had a full time job and at weekends and evenings for about 18 months i worked with my dad trying to help him get his painting and decorating buisness up and running, and because i needed the money. if you want something bad enough, you find a way. i did it and now i have a good job that pays well and unaffected by the recession, and get plenty time off to do what i want now to make up for the time i didnt have. i know a single parent mother who while bringing up her child did a 4 year degree full time , a one years teaching diploma in aberdeen while living in dundee, and held down three jobs and a voluntary one. if you cant do it, then thats up to you, but it can be done. its not luck, its sticking to it when it gets tough my mate and his wife did it while she was at uni studying to be a nurse, he was a car spray painter and made next to nothing but still had to live in edinburgh. she did a lot of agency work as a carer before getting qualified. far too many people say "i cant"
