  1. Glad to hear it all went well, knew you would do fine. :jiggy: As for the other news - how fantastic is that, just what we were hoping for! Thanks for making my day.
  2. Good luck today Emma, don't be nervous you are just answering a few questions about your nearest and dearest.
  3. We have our flights booked and we advised our CO of this and either he didn't read our email (possible) or it doesn't have any impact on processing times. As stated earlier, we are going to try for a business visa for the interim period so at least there are other options available to us.
  4. Hey yugoj, we are also looking at the e-visitor business visa (651) and my partner is sending off an email to DIAC querying if this visa can be used whilst waiting for a partner visa to be granted. Hopefully they will respond soon and I will post their response on here. If you also wanted to ask them, then the enquiry form is here: Online Application Enquiries
  5. I am sure it will all be absolutely fine. They are probably finalising all our visas right now and have put them all in date order so as the 6 month mark comes up they can email us to say they have been approved.
  6. We are leaving for Australia at the beginning of November, with or without a visa in hand. Original timeframes when we applied were 3-4 months and we are still working to that from a moving and job application point of view. My partner has a great opportunity for a post doctoral research fellowship but needs to be in Australia in November to work on the application with the particular department at QUT. We will have to get a business visa for the interim period and then fly out of the country when the visa finally comes through. My only concern is that even though we will notify our CO as to our movements he will forget and grant the visa whilst we are in Australia (yes, we think he is that useless).
  7. Thanks Susie, I think I was having a particularly bad day yesterday and the incompetence of our CO was the last step. I did like your reference to Emily Pankhurst though, can just see myself chained up to the railing outside AH. It would make particularly interesting press at the moment given that thousands of Australians are about to go into vote at AH.
  8. We finally received the email from our CO today, only after us sending him an email and asking him to please respond to the questions that we put to him over 4 weeks ago. He managed to tell us that the visa won't be approved until December but he still did not answer either question. I am not impressed with the level of service we are receiving from our CO at all, with our original letter having spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and one paragraph copied and pasted in twice. He also neglected to put an out of office on his email when gone for over 3 weeks, and now when we email him again he still doesn't answer our questions.
  9. I wonder how this new 'go slow' is reconciled with their Client Service Charter, particularly the 2nd bullet point: The Visa Application Process - Once you have lodged your application You can expect us to: undertake checks, as required, to confirm that the information and documents you have provided are truthful and accurate finalise your application as quickly as possible and in accordance with Australian law explain our decisions and tell you how to apply for review (if your application is refused and you have review rights) Link: Client Service Charter
  10. At least your CO is in contact with you, we probably won't be told about the change in timeframe until we contact him at 4 months.
  11. I think a lot of the CO's have been on leave meaning not a lot of processing or approvals happening.
  12. A lot happier today, my OH spoke to someone at AH and we found out that the medical has been approved. :jiggy: This was our big stumbling block and so now we can continue to plan our move to Australia, in reality the actual visa approval should now just be a formality.
  13. Our CO is DP, but we never got an out of office to our email so guessing it is a different one to SteEyns.
  14. Well, no update anytime soon from our CO. OH rang them today and they are not in the office for another 3 weeks. Guess we will just have to wait out the results of the medical, though it is flipping stressful as our visa application does have the potential to fail on this point and if we need more information we would rather sort it out sooner rather then later!
  15. Good advise Peach. We only have the one (well, two really) question for our CO and that is if he can please give us a timeline for our medical referral and if he will please advise us of the result when it comes in. I am thinking that nothing has come back from Australia yet and so he is sitting on it until he does hear something. Unfortunately this logic is somehow not sinking into my head and I am still antsy. :twitcy:
  16. Glad that your CO is quick in replying, ours certainly isn't. Sent a question off to him first thing Monday morning and no response as yet. I guess he could be out of the office but we will probably ring on Monday to see if we can get hold of him.
  17. Thanks so much for the link Peach, it definitely confirms that my partner would have been referred. (Only 2 years in remission from cancer, not the preferred 5 years)
  18. When the doctor completes the form for DIAC you are graded either A, B, or C. A = Passed medical, no issues B = Referred for further assessment C = Failed
  19. That's what we thought but the doctor wouldn't give out the information, said we had to ask our CO and the CO wouldn't tell us when we asked either.
  20. Does anyone know if your case officer will notify you if your partner's medical has been referred for further review? We emailed ours about this and he just said that they were working through our application.
