  3. hi ruthwin I am ping pong pom as well I live here before for a long time then returned to uk met my partner visited family over here in oz and my partner fell in love with the place, but now hes on a different page he thinks this country just drains you of everything you have and cant wait to go back home to uk. we are going to have one more summer here and the go home end of Jan beginning of Feb. really looking forward to going now it cant come soon enough for us,

  5. I have been checking interest rates, and iv told family the good new (for the uk bunch) but not so nice news for the family ill be leaving in oz it was hard
  6. hi all looking for a bit of advise. going back to uk but the dollar has drop just recently so my dilemma is:unsure: now there taking about dropping interest rates next week will this make the dollar drop even further or will this help the dollar, so do I change it over now and take a loss or wait to see if it improves its all giving me a headache :confused: sparrow
  7. hi guys just wondering if anyone has shipped the car they bought in oz back to the uk we are asking this because after reading another thread on here about bringing your car to oz they say you have to have owned the car for a total of 12 month, we bought a brand new Hyundai i20 but we have not settled and are thinking about going back to the uk we have had the car 6 months and was wanting to know how much it cost to ship back to the uk and if the 12 month ownership applies , sparrow9999
  8. hi sghjll we used Pickford's and they quoted us a full container and we ended up short of a full container so they recalculated and charge us less so I should think that other companies would do the same, can not say for the company you have used thou fingers crossed for you that you get a refund sparrow9999

    I know where he's coming from I keep having ups and downs all the time, it is so hard to make it work over here iv applied for loads of jobs with no luck don't even get replies, and the cost of everything here is so expensive, we arrived in Melbourne at the end of march I to have family over here, but you cant live your life for everyone else you need to live it for yourself so do what ever is best for your family, we are going to try and give it a year to see how we get on, {listen to your heart it is usually right in the end } from sparrow9999
  10. quick up date went to centrelink and yes im entitled to newstart allowance because i lived and worked here before i had to do a waiting period of 15 weeks from arrival because of our savings in the bank so if your not sure if you will get it fill out the forms and see
  11. hi all slightly stressing been in Australia now for 2 months and nothing seems to be going right. not be able to get a job, new it wasn't going to be easy but finding it very difficult. and to top it off today we received a infringement notice for going threw a red light, all of 1.1 seconds late. im still on my uk driving licence as im only on a temp309 visa at the moment. my question is will this affect my visa application for 2nd stage defacto visa don't need this to make thing worse, sparrow9999
  12. but im a returning resident as I got my permant visa in 1983 so wouldn't the two years waiting been in that period of time its so confusing
  13. hi guys just wondering if I can claim newstart job allowance in Australia iv been here for 6 weeks now and cant find a job. im a permanent resident and I did live and work in Australia before in the 80's for 9 years. will the fact that I have money in the bank from the sale of our house in the uk effect weather I can claim it or not. any help would be grateful as I heard you can sit about in centerlink for many many hours waiting sparrow9999
  14. weve just had the same problem half of them wont even do it unless you have a re-turn ticket we ended up going with flexi cover me and my partner got ours for £40 each but my mums was £750 with all her medical conditions plus she is 84 yrs there no quick fix here if you have medical conditions then be prepared to pay threw the nose for it,

  25. id think very long and hard about it. i did the same thing,i came back to the uk after being in oz for 12 years was home sick and had been back to the uk on holidays afew times but to be honest, once back into everyday life i soon relised id made a mistake, im not saying that everybody is the same but way up all the pros and cons very caerfully, im glad i came back in one way because i wouldnt have met my partner but we are now on our way back to oz. i hope every thing goes well for you what ever you do in your life all the best sparrow9999
