  1. Hi, came out to Perth a couple of weeks ago(I will post more about that when I get time) and we are staying at a property called Sea Breeze in Mindarie .We rented the house from a very helpful lady called Kim Willets .The house is in a good spot by the shops and about a 15 minute walk to Mindarie harbour. The house is beautiful and much better than I had hoped . All the things we needed were in the house , as all we came with was clothes and shoes . The kids are in the lovely pool . As with most Australian rentals you have to pay up front plus a bond , so it is always a bit of a worry wether the owner is bonafide so I would recommend looking at this ladies rentals. Also she put us on to Mindarie car hire .They have been excellent ,we had a few cases so in with the deal they picked us up from the airport in a people carrier and drop us to the rental and even gave us the keys to the rental ,arranged by Kim . The hire car we had booked was there waiting for us and they sorted us out with a sat nav ( invaluable) and a WA legal booster seat .At least we could get used to driving on strange roads in a quiet suburb .Last time I hired a car from hertz at the airport , but then you have to drive on big , complicated roads straight away .I have posted this because after all the stress of containers and a long flight if the house and transport is difficult it can really stress you out .This way you get dropped off and then you can relax or go for a nap before tackling the unfamiliar roads .hope it is of help.
  2. Good luck with the move, our container leaves next week and we fly out to Perth on the 1st September . Any one else having sleepless nights?
  3. Funnily enough, last week whilst pricing up flights Emirates wanted £869 each one way to Perth but if I booked a return for three weeks later, it was £709 for the same flight? Market forces or ripping people off?
  4. Oh yes I have been warned by the OH not to expect an annual trip back to the UK!
  5. Thanks for that information. Do you recommend a little stop over on the way or did you find it a pain with all the extra luggage?
  6. Anyone with half a brain cell can go directly to the airlines but that is not what this thread is about! If you can't be bothered to read the whole thread or fail to understand the concept of unethical marketing trick, then may I suggest you keep your suggestions to yourself! How much simpler can I get?
  7. No doubt they would give me some explanation to do with terms and conditions if I rang them but the facts are still the same, no matter which date you try the special offer ANZ code always results in a much higher fare so the free baggage is never free! I am just trying to make sure people are aware to shop around and don't be conned by companies trying to get your business by making false statements! If anyone from Emirates or ANZ could look into this matter and tell me how one could obtain the extra baggage allowance without being ripped off, I'm sure we would all have more confidence in using their companies!
  8. I've priced Perth from Manchester 18 th August , for one adult without the code it's £642.22! After adding the code it jumped to £845.22 so again the extra 15 kg is costing £203 for a special fare for ANZ bank!
  9. Think you've misread the £2880 price is for 5 people, that's not what I'm complaining about!
  10. I know and it's left me feeling a little frustrated as it seems add the word migration to certain things and companies seem to think it a good way to try and rip you off! The prices yesterday for a one way flight with Emirates were £200 more expensive than a return flight! They are hoping to cash in on people migrating!
  11. Yes thank you for the advise, I'm trying to explore all the options so I'll check that ooh via USA!
  12. I'm just trying to organise our flights for the 1st September and I'm shopping around to get the best deal but also trying to factor in excess baggage. Emirates is working out at £2880.15 for five of us with 30 kg each but then I remembered when you opened an account with ANZ bank they offer to increase your baggage allowance to 45 kg each which would come in very handy. The way the bank sell you the account is based on how wonderful that they've managed to get you that free allowance ! Well what a rip off because when you enter the magic code of UKANZ09 the special migrant fare price comes up at £4113.15! So my extra special free baggage increase will cost me the princely sum of £1113.15, so hardly free! Why do these companies use this con tactic? Think I'll fly Singapore instead!:arghh:And change my bank ASAP!
  13. Thanks, funnily enough we have been dragging the kids around all the stately homes in Britain! I say dragging because we've been to that many now the kids say not another one! I'm sure when we're in Australia they'll miss it though, or maybe not! We are going back to Windsor Castle this week because I love it and to see if we can glimpse the Queen!
  14. Haven't posted for a while but we are still working towards making the big move. I was a contestant on the BBC new show the Guess List with Rob Brydon on Saturday and want to apologies to anyone that watched it as it made people who emigrate to Australia a bit mad. It's all in the editing and we have now actually visited to validate the visa but that wouldn't make the joke very funny! Anyway I had a great time in the recording process as I got to film at Pinewood Studios and meet James Corden, Jennifer Saunders , Emilia Fox, Simon Callow and Louis Smith. That's another box ticked on the emigration bucket list, I'm off to Windsor castle this weekend to see if we can see the queen. It's top of the list of the list, my husband thinks I'm a bit crazy but it got me thinking is there anything you wish you had done before you left England? If it's good I may add it to my bucket list!
  15. Lovely report, my children loved the play area at Darling Harbour during our visit too!
  16. As my mother used to say, "If you haven't got anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all"!
  17. It's really awful , my thought are with the family. I have stopped going into Birmingham city centre shopping, there are just too many unsavoury characters hanging around .
  18. I understand you are upset about losing your children but you are putting very private information on a public forum. I'm sure your children would not be very happy to read some of the comments you make about their mother. There is obviously a lot of anger aimed at your ex wife is this possibly one of her reasons for emigrating?
  19. Well I believe she is being selfish. My mother emigrated to the Caribbean a few years ago and even though I knew I was going to miss her, I would never have told her I didn't want her to go. I think you're confusing loosing your young children to the emigration process and grown up children whom choose to emigrate. People should respect your decision and wish you well, anything less I believe is selfish and they're putting their own needs above your own!
  20. Yes you'reright, how bloody selfish can some people be, deciding on their own destiny, rather than just putting up with where they're parents have decided they should be born!!!!
  21. Thanks for that, I've just checked and the one way flights are as low as £458 . Do you know what the baggage allowance is?
  22. Maybe you could add to the statistic !!!
  23. That depends, is your wife a princess?
  24. How are you doing Salma? You have been in my thoughts , keep strong!
  25. My prayers and thoughts for your whole family today. I cannot imagine the suffering your sister is going through. A couple of years ago , on Boxing Day , I was driving and skidded on black ice. I lost control of the car. It felt like a lifetime before we stopped fortunately into a hedgerow and missing a tree by inches. The police said we had been extremely fortunate. The whole family escaped with minor injures but the guilt I felt as the driver is still with me, even though some things are out of your control. We have to except that these things happen and I can imagine your sister will be feeling guilty but you must reassure her that its not her fault. I hope your family can have a peaceful day without too much press intrusion.
