  1. Hi, I too am married to an Aussie and we have a 7 year old daughter. We have been living apart since Aug 2009, due to his work and the need to support us, and the fact that our daughter is at school. We went up to Oz house ages ago to enquire about processing times and they said that we did have to wait the same time as others, but they generally don't like to keep families apart, so perhaps we should read between the lines. They also told us that we could ask our case officer for permission to go there on a 3 month tourist visa, with a view to leaving the country at the end of the 3 months. I am not sure how that leaves us though as it would mean taking our daughter out of school. Can you ask your case officer for permission to do this too? I think it works out if you are prepared to fly to NZ a couple of times to make sure you stick to the rules of the tourist visa. Hope that helps! Jo
  2. There are additional posts to this thread and it seems it may only be related to the Skills visa, not relevant to the partner visa. This is a quote from the last post in that thread: "As far as I am aware, the changes in July ar eonly to the skilled visas. Now it could be that people are getting married in order to be able to include their spouse on a skilled visa because they want to apply before July and won't have enough time as defacto by then, but that's nothing to do with the partner visa." Think it's all OK for us waiting on Partner/Spouse visas
  3. Which organisation did you use for UK police check? The form I sent said 5 days, but they only wrote to me yesterday to say it was being processed, despite them receiving it on Monday - 4 days earlier! Bit annoying.
  4. That's great news! We will have to monitor each other's progress and see if they are processing at the same speed. Hope you guys are able to be together, seems a lot of us on here are apart from their other half while waiting for the visa to process. Hard work! Good luck and keep us posted
  5. Finally sent my 47SP application form off today! Front loaded with all the docs I can think of, except Police check, which is due back next week. Medical carried out in October and according to Knightsbridge docs, has already been sent to Oz House. I just hope the report hasn't gone missing as I did ask the doc for a copy, but they sent it off without making one "because the post it note may have fallen off". Can anyone tell me how to add my stats to the bottom of my posts please?! Happy to be joining the waiting game at last
  6. That's fantastic news! Did you have to keep calling him to be able to speak? Were there any major restrictions or rules about being able to spend 3 months out there that you were told about? Have a great time
  7. Hi All, Please forgive me if the answer to this post appears somewhere else in the thread - I don't have it in me to go over the last 300 + pages! I am about to put my visa application in the post. Please can anyone let me know if they feel that I have enough relevant evidence in my application. My form 47sp Husbands form 40sp My form 80 3 x form 888 - friend's confirming our relationship Meds already sent to Oz House Both birth certs - certified copies Our daughter's Birth cert - certified copy Marriage cert - certified copy Draft plan for our Family trust Utility bills for the UK showing both names Bank statements for me showing International deposits from Husband's account Husband's bank statements showing purchases for days out, trips, living expenses while in UK Husband's bank statements showing my use of his ATM card while we are apart Samples of husband paying bills for our daughter Financial report for Husband's business for Year end June 2010 Wedding preparation paperwork and invoices Some examples of our social life - christmas bookings, holiday resort bill, joint invitations Copies of engagement and wedding cards Copies of itinerary for honeymoon Telephone bills for the times we are apart Copies of emails for the times we are apart Travel itineraries for trips to and from Oz Photos of us outling all aspects of our relationship, including extended family involvement. Copies of all passports I am a bit worried that we dont have enough, as most of our relationship has been conducted from a long distance, even though we do have a 7 yr old child, we did spend some years apart. What do people out there think? Have we done enough? Would anyone else suggest additional evidence? Thanks all, any suggestions greatly appreciated! Jo
  8. Hi Lottee, I am about to send off my application, What March 2011 docs have you been asked to provide? Do you mean bank statements and phone bills etc? Did they specify anything else? Thanks Jo
  9. Tillyloola, In my opinion - ring him again!! It's the squeaky wheel that gets fixed. Ring him until you get a voice and leave a message every time. Email too! You have nothing to lose, and he probably won't think you are a nuisance if you are pleasant and friendly. Good luck
  10. Does anyone know if there is a time frame that the docs are valid? I planned to submit my application in November, so had medical done in October and our supporting statements (form 888) made by family/friends, were also dated and witnessed in October. We decided to delay applying as we were getting married in January and had other things to sort out, but we are now ready to resubmit application. Does anyone know if my October docs will still be valid? Also, can I send in scanned copies of my husband's 47sp and provide originals at a later date if asked?
  11. We are going to be neighbours, if you mean Emerald Lakes! My hubby is from that area and insists it's the best place on the Gold Coast and wants us to set up home there initially. I too would prefer Melbourne - I'm a real city girl - but hubby can't stand the place and doesn't want to leave Qld either. What is it with these Aussie Men???
  12. Where is everyone on here hoping to head to once the visa is granted? My hubby's from the Gold Coast, so we are heading there.
  13. Thanks Tillyloola, I personally think it's better to wait, but my husband wants us there asap and seems to think we will be ok applying over there. Hmmm. Maybe I will show him your reply and insist on waiting. Someone in the Brisbane immi office told us that I would probably be granted permission to stay there while the visa is being processed as they don't like to split families up where children are involved, but I am not certain this would be the case, too much of a gamble. Best to get it in and hope they process us quickly! Good luck with yours. Where are you going to in Oz?
  14. Ah right, thanks for that peach.. Maybe I should just go there on an ETA and apply when we are there. Maybe the processing times are quicker. Any thoughts out there on that idea?? Thanks Jo
  15. Hi All, I have my spouse visa application ready to go, just waiting for police check to be reuturned and hope that all the other docs we are supplying will be enough. We are pretty much sending every scrap of evidence we can think of as we have only been married 2 months and Aussie hubby went ahead to Oz for work. We are hoping - maybe with too much optimism - that my visa will be granted in time for us to join him by Easter, as we would like our daughter to start the new school term with the other children. In the event the visa is not processed by then, does anyone know the rules on me being able to travel on a 3 month holiday ETA? I understand that I may have to leave Oz to have the visa validated once it is granted. Has anyone ever done this? Or heard of anything that might suggest this won't happen. The visa office at Oz house is a night mare to call and when we put this question to them on a visit, the info was confliciting to something we were told before!!! Anything will help, please
