  1. Did your partner not earn it? From what you have said, he did earn it it was just paid in cash, didn't he declare it on his tax return and thus be able to prove he earned it that way? If not, well then yes your partner could be in trouble, from the tax office, it is illegal not to pay tax on earnings. How this can come back to bite is if you need to prove work experience for your visa application or skills assessment. Work experience is only counted if it is suitably remunerated. I have seen a fair few tradies and self employed come unstuck in the visa process because they have previously been economical with the truth at tax return time. No there is no way you can add points to the total if you are not in a skilled occupation.
  2. Permanent visas cost pretty much the same, be it a partner or skilled migrant visa, the isn't much in it. Are you going to see if you can get the RRV visa first? A long shot, but you might as well, I have seen them granted in situations where you might not expect it. If you cannot get the RRV, then skilled migration it is. But don't bother with family sponsorship, it leads to a poorer quality if visa and if you can get the points you are better off with an independent visa. You don't need 85 points, take care not to over claim, it just makes your application harder (more points to prove). I am puzzled as to why you think your 13 year old step broth could influence your points, he can't.
  3. Never heard of this rule before, where are you seeing it?
  4. Even signing away parental responsibility will not make the child not hers though.
  5. It does state that the WHV cannot be accompanied by a child. It states that very, very clearly. What part of this is not clear enough for you: http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/417.aspx Children have two parents and are the dependent of both parents. However I was not aware this was a discussion of whether somebody could get away with breaching visa regulations though. I thought this was a discussion about what is and is not legal. I would certainly concede that in some situations it might be possible for somebody to get away with breaching the visa regulations. Although in the case, where somebody is about to lodge a partner visa and will need to declare her dependents, it is not necessarily one of those cases.
  6. For heavens sake. This does not need opinions. WHV holders cannot be accompanied by children. That is not an opinion that is the rule.
  7. One to avoid - Medibank pet insurance. Quite bizarrely only paid out up to half of the limit for my pets ailment and even that was after they made me jump through huge hoops. Still paying out acknowledged the claim, they just halved it for no reason. A year later they still ignored my letters and were impossible to reach on the phone, so I had to give up.
  8. No harm in trying. I should not think there will be many examples on PIO though, most teachers can't find permanent jobs, never mind sponsorship.
  9. Indeed. And they spend about twenty minutes checking names match and so on. I was thinking why haven't you don't this already, I uploaded them weeks ago!
  10. Some incorrect information there and I don't even know what your points 1-4 even mean. I wrote my own statutory declaration. The wording of the statutory declaration is designed for people to write their own, you know "I solemnly declare..." I printed my statutory declaration on plain paper.
  11. You explained the situation in your first post. All answers have said that a WHV holder cannot be accompanied by a child at any time. There is no need to go through scenarios, that is the rule for all.
  12. Will if I were being threatened, then it would make me more determined to report this ASAP and wipe my hands of the matter. It is not up to you to sort out her visa issues, she is at perfect liberty to go offshore, apply for a visa and then come back.
  13. Yes but VEVO is notoriously unreliable. My OH didn't have a visa at all apparently, although has managed to get citizenship recently. You are PR from the day your visa was granted, yes you would need to validate the visa. Presumably as a 457 visa holder you are only offshore for a short holiday anyway?
  14. I expect VEVO is just wrong, it often is. If you have been granted a 189 then your PR starts on the day it was granted.
  15. The WHV is not an option, holders of this visa cannot be accompanied by a child at any time. Tourist visa might be better.
  16. I think you might be better off consulting an agent, as the path ahead for you doesn't look at all clear to me. You could indeed wait for an international recruitment drive by one of the police forces, but they don't happen very often and I am wondering if you would be disadvantaged by not being a current member of the force. I also don't fancy your chances with applying for management roles, there are generally enough managers to go around here already and unemployment is 6.5% and on an upwards trend. No harm in trying of course, it is just a very long shot I feel. How old are you by the way?
  17. Ask your vet, but if she is in good health I don't see why not. It might be less stressful for her than being rehomed at this stage in her life. I am in Sydney and not aware of any cat curfews, although mine are indoor cats anyway, but I see plenty of cats around.
  18. Yes that is the wording for a stat declaration made in the UK. I think you should put your address in as well though, so it is "I (name) of (address). You can print it out in plain paper, the notary you swear it in front of will add their seal or stamp.
  19. Have a clear out, but otherwise bring everything.
  20. Your work experience would need to be in your nominated occupation.
  21. Well he cannot be your dependent when he has parents.
  22. No not necessarily. Just because you paid for something doesn't mean you had to or he is dependent. What did he do for the first two years whilst you were here alone? Where are your parents?
