  1. Hi Cath You need to give them the international account number. Your Aussie bank should be able to tell you this. Their comment about 8 digit accounts is rubbish, don't let them fob you off!! Best of luck Charlie
  2. I can't even deal with the inflight - I just indulge in staring at the screen map. Charlie :goofy:
  3. There are 2 options. If you have been a resident for 4 years you can apply for Australian citizenship. Otherwise you can apply for a residents return visa but you have to prove that you are a permanent Australian resident. Charlie
  4. Hi Les You do not need a visitors visa - your CPV allows you to enter and leave for 5 years. Charlie
  5. I think the only way to get an answer to this is to speak to the Commonwealth Bank who hold the AOS bond. Charlie
  6. Hi It is income that he is liable for tax on. The theory is that the support person has provided the AOS when in reality we know that we parents have provided it. Charlie
  7. Hi No we just let our son get the interest and hope that he passes it on to us after making an allowance for his tax. So good so far. Charlie:biggrin:
  8. Hi I have a Cubby House (ie Wendy House) for sale, anyone interested? Find your own land. Charlie
  9. Hi Les Don’t use the Shippers Insurance, have a look at this:- http://www.lettonpercival.co.uk/favicon.ico We used these and they are a lot cheaper. Charlie
  10. Yes, quite formal but amusingly my wife was (incorrectly) declared as a convicted fraudster. This tool a little effort to correct! Charlie
  11. Hi Yes, if you have spent more than 12 months in Australia in the last 10 years you will require an Australian Federal Police check. Charlie
  12. Not sure that I understand your question. We opened a NAB account over a year before we became residents. It was very useful for sending money over before final visa payments were due. Charlie
  13. Yes but that was not the question I was answering. The question asked was what happens if I have taken my pension in the Uk for 10 years before moving to Australia. The answer is it is fixed from the date you move to Australia not from when you started drawing it. Charlie
  14. No. In that case it would be frozen from the date you moved out to Australia. Charlie
  15. Hi You don't need the label to get into Australia. However, I found it useful once I arrived to prove that I had permanet resident status to RTA, estate agents for property rental etc. I know that some others found the label unnecessary but it helped me. It is so easy to get the label so why risk any hassle? Charlie
  16. I have just had another look at this panel for the first time since we had our medicals done. It appears my helpful doctor does not feature on the list anymore! Charlie
  17. Hi You can go wherever you wish. Here is a link to the UK approved panel doctors:- United Kingdom – Panel Doctors Charlie
  18. It also varies with the doctor doing the medical. I have heard of some who "follow the book" whereas others are more sympathetic. Our doctor telephoned us the week before the examination and told us what to write on the forms "to avoid setting off any alarms". He was most helpful with some of the concerns we had. We were quite worried about the prospect of medicals in the early days of our visa application as I am sure a lot of other parent visa applicants are. don't worry too much. Charlie
  19. I agree with Matt. A finanvial cost benefit analyis would certainly fail - it is really about family and lifestyle. Charlie:rolleyes:
  20. Hi Here is a link to the official site that explains the process:- Australian Immigration Fact Sheet 22. The Health Requirement Charlie
  21. Hi Yes, I remember the issue about health insurance and the limited time to take out private insurance before the higher premium kicks in. This is why we didn't consider ourselves true residents until we had sold our UK and moved out permanently. Charlie
  22. Thanks. Looks like I made things difficult for myself - wish I had known this earlier! Charlie
