  1. At a guess, I'd say that it would take between fifteen and twenty minutes to commute between the two places - depending on the exact locations, of course. Warana and Wurtulla are closer to Kawana, than Buderim, but - in relative terms - are 'less desirable' areas. Buderim, as its residents will tell you, is *the* place to be on the Sunshine Coast.

As homewardbound suggests, I believe that it's intended to be a serious article. I know...

This article, without even considering the ridiculous hyperbolic statements, simply highlights one of the pitfalls of labelling something "Australian" when it really isn't!
  4. When our eldest daughter was about six months old, we were threatened - by our site manager - with being 'thrown out' of our rental property for..."installing an air conditioner" in 'window' of her room. He proclaimed that it was an "eyesore". I expressed my disgust that 'cosmetics' were being prioritised over her health. He said the rule still stood. Eventually, the landlord of our particular townhouse agreed to install ducted air conditioning. I came to realise that appearances are very important to those, and I repeat myself, 'easy going' Aussies. It was 'the middle of summer', by the way.
  5. It's a good job that Australia is an 'easy going' country!
  6. Despite your viewpoint - I suggest that the presence of the 'kind of activities', that need policing, don't make the place less boring for the 'common man'.
  7. No problem whatsoever. I believe that my nephews are extremely happy at Stella Maris. Additionally, their parents are delighted with the school.
  8. Three of my family members have (or do) attended Siena. They rate it highly. The Principal of Stella Maris, Glenda Morgan, is (allegedly) an inspirational 'Headteacher'.
  9. Hi Katsy, Two of my nephews attend the school. I am led to believe that it is 'top notch'. How old (or which year group) are your boys?
  10. Before anyone suggests that I am being unconstructive, I am being honest rather than 'sugarcoating' the situation.
  11. The Sunshine Coast, as you have realised, is an extremely boring place. It's unfortunate that you are going 'stir crazy' at this (early) stage. Unless you move, it's likely to become even worse. So there's the advice - move!
  12. You might also benefit from writing a similar post in the 'Queensland' area of the site.
  13. The home of what was the 'world's fastest rollercoaster'.
  14. No! Post #81 merely posed a question. Post #83 stated *my* personal preference in response to *your* preference.
  15. I wouldn't do it myself but, unlike you, I haven't criticised anybody.
  16. As somebody who has commented on illiteracy, do you deem 'Im', 'Its' and 'cant' to be an acceptable form of writing?
  17. Coolum is lovely. It's a 'world away' from the overhyped areas of Noosa, Mooloolaba and (ahem) Buderim.
  18. Have you consciously endeavoured to become a caricature of yourself? Surely you are trolling!
  19. All 'negativity' on this site seems to be perceived as trolling but I genuinely don't understand why Noosa is so popular. It is overpriced, in all regards, and the town centre is overcrowded. It's only my opinion, folks. Mooloolaba falls into the same category. 'Each to their own', I suppose.
  20. I'm only going to post once, on this thread, otherwise I might be unable of prevent myself from perennially ranting. I am a former secondary school maths teacher and I applied my (previous) trade in both the UK and Oz. I am going to attempt not to use any hyperbolic statements but it might become too tempting. In Australia, I found that numerous lessons were cancelled (often at short notice) for sporting events to occur. Additionally, 'Wednesday afternoon sport' - which transpired during 'lesson time' - ensured that the sporty children fell even further behind with their studies. This might not be appear to be a catastrophic problem but, if you miss one third of your maths lessons, it is. In even more extreme cases, I was relieved of my maths teaching duties (for the afternoon) in order to accompany one of the teams whilst somebody 'babysat' my timetabled class. It's all true and it's all calamitous. Of course, my observations are based on my personal experiences - as with most things in life. I expect to be amused at some of retorts to this post. Indubitably, from people who haven't experienced both systems.
  21. Mooloolaba sounds ideal for you. It's much more fast paced than Caloundra and has a plethora of bars and restaurants. I personally like Cotton Tree. It's almost like a hybrid of the two. Housing in any of the three places would obviously be cheaper than Noosa. Having said that, for a like-for-like property, Mooloolaba would probably be one of the most expensive places on the Sunshine Coast - after Noosa.
  22. There's plenty of snobbery against Nambour but it's fine. As I said, most people - especially on this website - will tell you to avoid it. There is a genuine flooding risk for the lower regions of the town but that is a separate point. What kind of lifestyle are you after? Beach or countryside? Large house or unit? Etc! BTW, Noosa is one of the most pretentious places that I've ever been to.
  23. In her case, sadly, she is that silly. It's just another example of a delusional expectation that SOME people have regarding a move to Oz.
