  1. You've been very brave and had a go, more than a lot of people would. We've been here 7 1/2 years and I still find it hard at times. Me and my husband have said that if we went back home to the uk then it would be a really bad idea to go back to the same town. To have experienced what we have to then go back to our old life would be impossible. Good luck with everything.
  2. We lived south of Perth for 12 months, now live on the Sunshine Coast, very glad we made the move, so much more to see and do. We had friends who lived near Albany Creek which they liked.
  3. Hi we lived in Melbourne for 5 years, also in the eastern suburbs, Ferntree Gully, The Basin, lovely area. Are your children old enough for kinder, that's how I made some great friends, takes time but it will happen.
  4. I agree with the above, we lived in that area, lovely, just too wet for us,lol
  5. We've lived in Australia for 7 years and have lived in Melbourne,Perth and now on the Sunshine Coast. My sons are 9 and 12, they went to catholic primary schools and now a state school, never had an issue, they've been happy in each, luckily. We lived near the Dandenongs on the east side of Melbourne, very beautiful area.
  6. Give it a go I'm sure you will enjoy it, look forward to your review, lol, sizzling beef and black pepper is awesome!
  7. Not sure about the crispy duck but awesome Chinese, nearest thing to an English Chinese that we've found, if that makes sense, best chips!
  8. Bedfordale is nice, we actually lived there, some nice houses. Sun Hing Chinese is awesome, the one thing I miss, well worth a visit!
  9. Ok, I was trying to be nice before but have to agree with the above comments, lol.
  10. We lived near Armadale for 12 months and have since moved over to the Sunshine Coast, we previously lived in Melbourne. It wasn't for us living in WA but everyone's different, we couldn't settle there and weren't happy. We found that after Melbourne there really wasn't a great deal to do without travelling. Armadale is ok, two pretty good shopping centres and an awesome Chinese. The trains seemed to go pretty regular into the city and were pretty clean, plenty of police about to, which is always a good thing.
  11. We lived in Melbourne for about 5 years but decided to move away because of the weather, seemed to be spending more and more time inside. We now live on the Sunshine Coast and the weather is awesome, kids are never in the house.
  12. Exactly, my parents love it here but I understand its a big decision for them, whatever they decide we will support them and if it doesn't work they will head back to the uk and holiday here. I don't think its selfish wanting them to spend loads of quality time with their grand kids
  13. I feel for you, I think it's probably a situation that a lot of people find themselves in. We live in Mount Coolum so not far from you and love it but do miss home. I'm an only child and have 2 boys 9 & 12. We have moved from Melbourne to Perth and then over to the Sunshine Coast, my kids are happy, confident kids who deal with changing situations easily, moving schools isn't a problem. I think it's done them the world of good and we just tell them how lucky they are to have friends all over the country. We are looking into my parents coming to live over here with us, is that something you could look at?
  14. We also lived on the Dandenongs. We lived there when the bush fires went through Marysville, Kinglake etc, my husband was one of the first people in to help with the clean up, which was a pretty tough thing to see. It was a wake up call for me and I'm just more aware of what's going on now. I have a box with all our important documents, passports, photos, kids reports and things they have made over the years ready to go in a cupboard, just in case. We've been here 7 years and it's never been an issue, think you just have to be sensible and take advice.
  15. We moved from Perth to Queensland, Sunshine Coast and it was the best thing we ever did. So much more to do and see, weather is great, people are friendly, not regretted it one bit.
