1. Just want to tell you that was a really brave post - give yourself a hug for that alone and wish you happiness whichever way you turn
2. I spent a year in London, loved the late light, gaslight and that "Mary Poppins" softening - think it would have been daylight saving as nightfall came at around 9pm, such a contrast to the experimental summer daylight saving in Queensland - I love the contrast of seasons, shortening days in winter and early light in summer
3. I'm so Sorry for hijacking your thread, I don't enough about IT to post Bundaberg in Queensland is hurting Another recent member "loveshoes" is part of our community - the devestation in the north and east of our city is... you just cry so many elderly people that because of safety will never live in the homes they built, and lived in all their lives I can't do the Mud Army because of open cuts and work etc I boiled 132 eggs for the CWA because it was something I could do This event that was two years ago touted as "a once in hundred years" caught out so many without insurance Living in this country with nature will test you Be it bushfire or flood - I hope loveshoes is ok......pretty sure she is in East Bundy fingers crossed for you
4. kelly diehards survive - you are a glass half-full mentalist I wish you the best, I followed your posts.......welcome to Australia
5. A word of warning - when and if you choose to invest in unsubstantiated proof in a company with a glossy brochure looking for investors do so at your own risk........ All that glitters is sometimes foolsgold
6. Stacey - I'm a first generation Australian of Estonian parents I think you need to question government about the need to throw open the border. When my parents migrated to Australia it was in the aftermath of WW2 both disliked socialism, and sought a better life. The Australian advertisement was for "Factory workers", the country was inunndated by overqualified Europeans wanting a go at something other than communism. The majority contributed the 2 year posting to wherever required by the government in llieu of the fare, Those days, post war there was work to be done without too many males Imagine skilled migrants from all walks of life grabbing that with both hands - just for a chance to escape what they thought would be another term of opression. Qualified engineers, doctors. and scientists put aside their qualifications to grant themselves and family freedom. I'm a fan of BobJ - he belongs to that group of people When you have a reason to make a better life for yourself in a foreign country and embrace that country and it's work ethic that is what stiffens the spine of society Like a few said - make sure of the necessary blockers - welfare made too easy to those crossing for the wrong reasons Feel your insecurity - and I don't trust government! cheers

dawn I'm an aussie and have lived in Bundaberg for the last 20 years - we were relocated from the Northern Territory with work. Thought we'd stay a couple of years and move on well 20+ years and four kids later....we love it here and I would'nt swap for any other place in Queensland. My oh is NSW born and moans about the humidity in summer, I grew up in Mt. Isa where you average 1 humid day a year! Bundy is a great place to bring up kids. The only thing I really miss is the fact to fly north, unless you want to pay heaps, you still leave from Brisbane. Some cheap flights from Hervey Bay 45 min drive though. Can't say much on the work front as we are self-employed but there is a LOT of development in the building trade both in Bundy and Bargara - our sparky is a really nice pom who has lived here for about 4 years and loves it. hope it helps you to decide
