  1. Just want to tell you that was a really brave post - give yourself a hug for that alone and wish you happiness whichever way you turn
  2. I spent a year in London, loved the late light, gaslight and that "Mary Poppins" softening - think it would have been daylight saving as nightfall came at around 9pm, such a contrast to the experimental summer daylight saving in Queensland - I love the contrast of seasons, shortening days in winter and early light in summer
  3. I'm so Sorry for hijacking your thread, I don't enough about IT to post Bundaberg in Queensland is hurting Another recent member "loveshoes" is part of our community - the devestation in the north and east of our city is... you just cry so many elderly people that because of safety will never live in the homes they built, and lived in all their lives I can't do the Mud Army because of open cuts and work etc I boiled 132 eggs for the CWA because it was something I could do This event that was two years ago touted as "a once in hundred years" caught out so many without insurance Living in this country with nature will test you Be it bushfire or flood - I hope loveshoes is ok......pretty sure she is in East Bundy fingers crossed for you
  4. kelly diehards survive - you are a glass half-full mentalist I wish you the best, I followed your posts.......welcome to Australia
  5. A word of warning - when and if you choose to invest in unsubstantiated proof in a company with a glossy brochure looking for investors do so at your own risk........ All that glitters is sometimes foolsgold
  6. Stacey - I'm a first generation Australian of Estonian parents I think you need to question government about the need to throw open the border. When my parents migrated to Australia it was in the aftermath of WW2 both disliked socialism, and sought a better life. The Australian advertisement was for "Factory workers", the country was inunndated by overqualified Europeans wanting a go at something other than communism. The majority contributed the 2 year posting to wherever required by the government in llieu of the fare, Those days, post war there was work to be done without too many males Imagine skilled migrants from all walks of life grabbing that with both hands - just for a chance to escape what they thought would be another term of opression. Qualified engineers, doctors. and scientists put aside their qualifications to grant themselves and family freedom. I'm a fan of BobJ - he belongs to that group of people When you have a reason to make a better life for yourself in a foreign country and embrace that country and it's work ethic that is what stiffens the spine of society Like a few said - make sure of the necessary blockers - welfare made too easy to those crossing for the wrong reasons Feel your insecurity - and I don't trust government! cheers
  7. I have four Aussie born kids, thankfully the youngest is over 21Bad behaviour by kids anywhere should rightfully be called to account - with perthpom I think said"it's all fine and dandy" as long as you sterred clear of a lift home to mum and dad accompanied by amember of the constabularyMy kids knew full well it would go way worse for them should a "nice policeman" front my door to tell me about my darling son/daughter,and they were trusted from early on, to stay close to home. respect people and propertyAnd as the poster said - there comes a time........when you just have had a gutfulGood onya!loosely speaking don't be offended if it perthpom or the other poster - I just read between the lines
  8. Hi. just would like to welcome you to Bundy and give a few tips - collect all shopping cats and compare specials discount fuel for grocery total) check out Sunday markets for fruit and veg they are held once a month at the PCYC Maryborough St and weekly on a sSunday 6 -12am at the shalom college enjoy your big breakfast! cheers Reen
  9. kevin - that's exactly the mindset. you get out what you put in
  10. cultures differ - for example I have a son in Canada and another in Korea...... The son in korea is in a relationship where the western acceptance by us as parents is a big deal in her culture - no biggie in his own - I took it upon myself to point this out after the third email I had about "losing face" The Canadian visa son batted a ball into the window of a stationary vehicle secured a date with "miss world" running the rapids in her free time I met my husband in Gove NT and married him - with my European surname his own brothers first question was about skin colour thirty years on it's all good - do what you feel is right for you Some people, Australian males in particular really don't understand the nuances of Eastern culture

    what to do?

My MIL asked to arrive tomorrow - realised she couldn't fit it in and cancelled "sigh" of relief Then booked herself for a week in a week's time Rang today realising ORIGIN reared it's head, and we may be busy Now I've been married 30 years, in that time I've shared my husband with his parents always said yes around whatever suited them Here's the thing -- my husband can stand 4 hours maxwith MIL And inhales 5 weeks with my mum - she gets high on what I drink, tea is on time I get to a higher plane and no complaint i guess the question is.... he loves his mum Why is it up to me to carry the over****e when he has had enough family
