Because if you want to live in Sydney or Melbourne your have to pay that money. Could say the same about the uk, why pay London prices when you could move to the middle of Wales and buy a big house for 150 grand, it's about location

Thing is paul your looking at it on todays figures, you know the unemployment rate wont sit there, its sliding fast. within the next 12 months wa will have one of the higgest rates in oz.

I'll share my experiences when I return, I'm going to miss the blue sky's but not the heat.. still got 9 months max till I'm leaving, redundancy is looming in the next 2/3/4 months

Well I won't be missed, I'm still 9 months away but I can safely say that I'm gone 100% in January. maybe sooner if I get made redundant.
