  2. is anyone able to answer us please? our shippers arrive tuesday so im packing up tonight. Can we take a bottle of champers given to us by my late father in law? also i have a rare valuable bottle of malt whiskey id like to take? Thanks Kelly
  3. im rarely on this site anymore just like to try and catch up with oldies now and again, but this thread caught my eye and reinforced why im hardly on here any longer. I am english born and bred but lived in Edinburgh since 15, my mums family all scottish, my dads all english. I had no idea there were so many bigoted small minded members on this site. Never once in 18 years have i faced any form of racism aimed toward me for being english, the only time is when there is genuine banter regarding football. And that all comes from the billy bigshot english media continually quoting the world cup win! im english to heart and it pisses me off. It adds serious fuel to the fire of eng v sco! this thread should be an informed decent respectful discussion but yet some feel it appropriate to make sweeping judgmental statements full of BS and bigotry. absolutley astonishing theres putting your point of view across which everyone is entitled to but this..............
  4. just love it! what a fab way to show your first 6 mths its made me really emotional altho thats not hard just now its all starting to get a bit much at the mo only 15 weeks to go for us but totally loved your thread x
  5. excellent well thought out post and i applaud you for your honesty. You realised your mistakes and have been honest about. I wish you all a safe journey back to cornwall and all the very best for your future adventures where ever in the world that may end up being!
  6. Thanks everyone your all spot on! I think my anticiparion of the whole situ is making me worse at the moment because i know how scared i am i know how i would react if i see one so i think its that which is making it worse?? Tony as always thankyou so much ur a star!!!! I will go online tonight and look at the course. i had kind of put it to the back of my head until the episode with our friends encounter at the lake. i am aware the carpet python and eastern brown are the two most probable sightingsi may have so im tryin to get myself to even just look at them. I also know how i have the fear.... as a child i grew yp knowin my dad was petrified of them amd always heard the story of him n mum in tbe everglades crossing a bridge and a water mocassin snake came along and my dad ran the other way leavin my mum it was like the family folk story and plus i vividly remember when i was about 3-4 at playgroup a boy chased me and threw a handful of worms in my hair and ever since i have had this irrational fear. i cnat watch or read very to well anythin to do with them tho i do try because i am also sort of intrigued. in sydney wildlife world in 2008 i had a bad envounter with a olive python by accident the member of staff had it and caught me off guard i totally freaked like a nutter! I drew my breath and couldnt let it go i went dizzy startun going into a cold swear crying and shaking and generally lookin like a total asshole lol!! Awful experince. but i know i have to confront this or il be on the first plane home and i also know il never ever be ok with them or hold one but i jusy need to be able to not totally freak everytime and let my mind run away i want to be sensible about it coz as i say i defo dont want my daughter gtowing up with it. xx sent frm my android
  7. Thanku for the reply. shes 6 and i defo dont want to pass my fear to her id like her to embrace the wildlife and enjoy it but be safe and knowledgeable at the same time. learning with her is a great idea!! Ive tried to go to the local butterfly farm where they keep snakes but last time i literally froze on the spot when i walked in. the feeling is horrific and overwhelming to say the least!
  8. Evening everyone, So as the title says i have a serious snake phobia, confirmed. I head to brisbane in jan and i am absolutely crapping it because of that. Now ive been twice before and once there wasnt too bad, but in Jan this year we stayed in Narangba and the house had a massive garden with grass about ankle high and tress, some running water and scrub at the bottom. I was absolutely petrified the whole 3 weeks i wouldnt let my daughter out to play i was so worried! when we went out to sit i would check under chairs etc like a raving loony first and i always felt i was looking over my shoulder. heading to the beach i made everyone stick to the path and avoid the bushy bits. Ive researched the snakes in the area and checked where they seem to be prevalent, i wasnt sure if its better to be prepared and know or to just know nothing as its maybe worse knowing too much?? Now this was all made alot worse when our friend was out jogging past the lake at North lakes 2 days ago and came across in her worde "the biggest snake ive seen since moving here"!!!!!!!! It turned out to be a carpet python, but we have other friends who have encountered them. Now im aware what im meant to do if i see one and trust me im fully aware of first aid but jesus people i cant put into words how absolutely terrified i am , im beginning to think the anticipation is maybe worse?? I hoping to find someone to get either hypnosis or CBT from and hope it works. i know to some this will be a good joke and a usual stupid pommie but this is a fear ive always had i cant even visit the reptile house at the local zoo!
  9. Were edinburgh! Yeah i agree emirates are excellent but for us this time was purely about cheapest flight. and the fact we get a stop over is a huge bonus for us our wee one is 6 so its great to get her sorted and have a sleep and a bath. we arrive 630pm and fly out 930am next morning so not much time to see anything more chillaxin and sleepin lol! Great to hear foods gd!
  10. Thanks, were staying at the pan pacific so great to hear you were happy with it! this is our third time flying to oz, first with emirates, second with singapore and now with malaysia. Emirates would be our first choice but were nearly £500 dearer with no stop over:confused:
  11. So i found flights at a good price with Cathay Pacific but with our luck when i went to booked them today they had gone up by £200. Yet Dial a flight was doing it £100 less than the airline direct, So i called them and asked if they could give us it at the lower cost and asked about migrant luggage, she told me yes we,ll double your luggage (but no price match) but only from Heathrow, we have to get our own way from Edinburgh, which was pointless as we would have to pay to double the luggage. Infact i found Cathay Pacific completely unhelpful, werent interested what so ever. So i called flight centre and the girl could not have been any more helpful, she was excellent. They would price match any other travel agent but she said let me check other airlines other than CP i may find something better. So we did and she came back with Malaysia airlines, £70 more than the CP price but with a stop over at the airport hotel for a night. So we decided to go with it. Its cost us £2037 for 2 adults and one child Edinburgh to Brisbane end of Jan with a nite stop over so were pretty happy with that. Cant wait.........
  12. Thankyou all  i know in my heart this is the right thing and also it will be fine but sometimes i need more than just jamie to reassure me, thats why i know i can always come on here and friends will in the most be supportive, sometimes you just need someone who has already done it or feelin the same to say to just say, you know what your not on your own and it will be ok, Thanks xx
  13. Mornin/evening all hope ur all well. im havin a few seriously emotional awful days and wobbling. We fly out jan 30th and on one hand i cant wait weve been waitin so long for this and took so much blood sweat and tears but on the other i am feelin so awful for leaving my mum n dad. i feel totally selfish and guilty as im an only child and my parents closest friends are 2hrs away. im taking their grand daughter away who my dad takes to school. i think im more concerned for my dad as im starting to see him get older and i get worried what happens when the time comes hes unwell and im not here. Theyve never tried to stop us and always said we should go for it and theyre looking forward to visitingbut im just feeling terrible just now thanks for listening x
