Hello all,

 

Just wondering how everyone on the Carpentry vetassess got along last week, I am due to do mine in April, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

hi mate, just passed the joinery practical, we made a saw horse, i know the carpenters had to plane a face side and edge on a piece of timber with an electric planer then rip it down with a circular saw, sharpen a chisel. tips;- they are keen that you know the procedures of jobs, just refer to the answers you gave in the written assessment criteria, revise all the health and safety issues you come across on sites, ladder safety and checks, if you require anymore info just ask ill see if i can help.

I have just found out i passed my test i took on tue(17th)

 

Had to.

 

Make a saw stool

30 degree pitch hip and gable roof, the base is made from a sheet of ply with 4x2 screwed around the edge as a plate

set out a pattern stud(storey Rod)

grind and hone chisel

rip piece of cls then plane cut side

 

3 sets of questions, all relates to health and safety and ppe.

 

the guys who asses r really sound and really just checkin u know what u doin, the way u go about the task and when u r ripping timber/grinding chisel whether u have eye/ear protection.
