Gaynor
I am in the (long) process of applying to register to practice as a nurse in Australia and would like to know from others who have been through this before me: The AHPRA ask for evidence (20 hours per year) of continuing professional development. They ask for this to be documented. I have certificates but am going to stuggle to demonstrate some of the training I have done from 2006 and prior to this. Has anyone else stumbled at this hurdle? How strict are they in the documentation? (apologies for posting this before on the wrong part of the forum, I'm a newbie)
Guest Hacking family
Hi Gaynor, I was asked by AHPRA to provide further evidence of my CPD so in order to avoid getting all my certificates verified I decided to just type up a summary of my CPD for this year. I called it Summary of Continuing Professional development, log of hours 2011 to present date (evidence and certificates in PDR file). I had 3 columns, date, activity undertaken and hours spent. I included things like meetings attended, ANTT, ILS update etc and then just got my manager to verify that this was an accurate record.. It seems to have done the trick because i have just had my eligibility to register confirmed today. Sarah
Gaynor
Congratulations. Thanks for your tips. My problem will be providing evidence from back in the 1990's. I really would be making it up as I can not remember what I was doing then in terms of meetings, workshops etc and I haven't got old diaries. Guest Hacking family
Hi Gaynor, I only provided the CPD evidence for this year, as other stuff is listed on my CV. I haven't sent them any certificates other than my nursing diploma and transcript. Sarah
Ratchet
I would have thought all of your certificates obtained from the courses attended would be enough. This is a new thing by the sounds of it......good old ahpra..... As a commonwealth country, ahpra are contratually obliged to give you registration here if you hold nmc reg.
