Hey Folks!

I'm hoping to be out in Melbourne by October this year with my partner, we enjoy eating out a lot of the time and i've done a reccie of the restaurants in the CBD etc and have seen some that have caught my eye!

What i want to ask PIO members is, what are your top 3 places to eat in Melbourne, not just the CBD, anything counts, chains, independent, coffe shops, cafes etc etc.

Cheers

Hard to say because there are so many really good ones here. Melbourne is known for its diverse cuisine and anything not up to scratch won't last too long- plenty of competition.

Is there not even a place where if you had people visiting you'd think, I must take them to ????? before they go?

Cheers

Too much choice really! There's everything from corner cafe to high-end fine dining readily available, and It's all of a very high standard.

The Thai food and friendly atmosphere is great at Cookie on Swanston (massive beer & wine selection).

There's a little foodie place at the end of the pier at St Kilda which is quite interesting.

Most of the restaurants along Southbank are all very good but the prices reflect the desirable riverside/casino location.

There's a great little Japanese place I like which is on Toorak Rd near the corner of Toorak and Chapel street. Very reasonably priced and great food.

So many to choose from and depends what type of food you like.

If you pick up a copy of the Age Good Food Guide it will give you a lot of information with prices etc. Also there are web sites which do reviews of restaurants and give their opinion.

My daughter usually has tapas around Fitzroy Brunswick Street area.

So many little bars and eateries around.

Wineries in Yarra Valley and Red Hill are great for a visit as well and lovely food available.

The good old pub meal does us and there are some very good ones around serving very good tucker.
