tisme Posted September 24, 2007 Share Posted September 24, 2007 You need to produce ID when you open a PO box, so this would be impossible from the UK, the application forms can be printed off from the PO website but you will have to wait until you get here to have it processed. Guest Sharmaine Posted September 24, 2007 Share Posted September 24, 2007 Hi, We are in the same situation and the nice man from the post office in Australia said this: In regards to your enquiry you can have your mail redirected to care of the Post Office and provide photo ID when collecting and that will be fine, as you have to provide Photo ID to purchase a Post Office Box In Australia. So it seems you can have your mail re-directly to a central post office and then just show your id to collect it but can't open a post office box until you get there as you need id to do this. The one thing that has bemused them above all else about UK is that fact that the postman puts the mail through the letterbox - and we don't have to go traipsing to the garden gate to pick up the mail.
