Or even Currimundi beach and lake. The lake is brill for swimming and kayaking, very shallow water so the kids can have lots of fun. Decent facilities like a cafe and W/C etc

Wow, we're definately going to be checking those beaches out - even if they are crowded! ;) Don't worry though, your secret's safe with me.

Funnily enough my relocation specialist sugested Bridie Island but to go with an open mind because last time they went (10 years ago because of this) it was full of wierd people!!!

Tangalooma is beautiful, stayed there for a few days in dec 09, the wild dolphins come in every evening to be fed and there are loads of them. It's an amazing place and an adventure if u r driving but make sure you have a neck brace if u decide to take a trip to the man made freshwater lake - the 'road' will give u whiplash if ure not careful, well worth it tho.

We stayed in a beautiful beach house right on the tip of the resort with views to die for, especially sunset.

Hoping for a move to oz in the coming year or two.......hoping not three!

I am soo excited about our trip to tangalooma. We've to wait until May though :arghh:

We decided to go to Bridie island tomorrow but looking outside and at the forecast we may put it off a week and go furniture shopping instead. Almost as good - not. :frown: Still i can't quite get over the fact we can get to those amazing paces in just a short drive whenever we want! It's brill  Thanks for the recommendations.

when we went it was amazing, had never driven on a beach before. The tide was coming in too so we had to move pretty sharpish before we became a boat .

We went in dec and it was so hot, the pools and sea were very much appreciated. If u do go to the man made lagoon make sure u have closed shoes or at least socks because the walk from the carpark is all sand and it feels like molten glass on ure feet - hard to run through it too cos it's deep, ouchy, I remember the pain, I had my little niece in my arms too, I wish I had wellies on for that!!!! Worth it when u get to the lagoon tho, the water is like a bath.

Hi Marko,

I know you say your not overly fussy about which city you move to but you may change your mind once your living there, as the cities are all so different!! I went on a short trip to Oz last year to see whether I liked it and to check out the 3 places I thought were 'main contenders' Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane.

I think you may want to check out Brisbane before you pin all your hopes on living there! When we went there were some lovely things to check out such as riding along the river in the city cats, the markets next to the river, the lovely walkways and little fake beach area next to the river, and the nightlife on a Fri/Sat night was good - situated in one strip which was easy to get to. There were also buses everywhere so it seemed quite easy to travel around on public transport. It's also a good location to get to Sydney/Byron Bay/Gold Coast etc....

HOWEVER! this was honestly was the weirdest thing I have ever experienced but walking around in the day and even in the evening on a weekday, there was no one around anywhere! It was dead! Where is everyone??? The only people (other than travellers in our hostel) we managed to locate were some friendly locals in a bar on the strip on a Friday night and they were telling us they had 'never left Brissie' - they didn't seem to know much about the outside world!!

I must admit me and my friend were not bowled over by Brisbane, it was very hot, humid and wet, a ghost town vibe, friendly but very 'local' locals, not that much to do once you have checked out the riverside, and very built up with not much to look at. I might be sticking my neck out and offending lots of people who love Brisbane but I wouldn't be rushing back there :-S

City Centre is quite at weekends all the activity will be in places like Fortitude Valley etc returants night life will not be in CBD. IN summer lots of people out of Brisbane at weekends to enjoy beautiful costal and country areas within easy reach of the city.
