Hi to all,

Recently my wife has been a little Ill, she has noticed her ankles swelling, so off she went to the doctors,

After blood samples etc etc the results came back to say she has got a problem with her kidney too much protein in her blood, this caused from a leakage from the kidney, she has to see a specialist soon,

We are wondering if this would have any impact on our visa, any one any ideas?????

Hello kev how is the fishing going, no mate we are hopefully having them in the new year.

Not done any for a while mate............tied up with the lad's fish tanks

Somebody else may be able to help, but I don't think they'd find anything without blood tests and we didn't have any, but things may have changed with the medical.

Good luck mate and my best wishes to your good lady. Hope things go well for you both.

Hi Proview,

It may impact on your visa. Is your wife a diabetic? The DIAC will look at how much of a financial burden your wifes condition will have on the health system. It may turn out to be quite treatable. have alook at this link, it gives you some info on what I believe may be your wifes complaint. Good luck with it all.

Guest Escaped the MIL

I have problems with my thyroid and was entitled to free prescriptions for life when we lived in the UK. I thought it would have had an impact on my visa for here, but I just had to go and have an extra medical when I arrived here. I do, however now have to pay for all my medications which is quite pricey, but am happy to pay seen as I am here.

I also have a friend who has just moved here and she had breast cancer and a mastectomy last year...didnt hinder her visa either.

Not sure if it will be the type of visa you are coming on as to whether they assess them differently with regards to medical complaints. We came originally on a 457, but then got PR paid for after 6 months by my OHs company.

Hope that helps.

Hi Alan

Oh bugger - I hope all turns out to be ok for her.

I am sure there will be something they can do. I think it might be something you have to mention when going for your meds, but how this will impact the visa I just don't know.

Keep us informed on how she gets on and I hope she gets treated real soon and back to normal.

Big hugs to you both

I have epilepsy, 3 fits a year, can work etc , live a 'normal' active life plus at times my blood pressure can be high. Im stressing how this will affect my application. I have read the info on th medicals. The blood pressure bit seems to crop up, I think it is poss due to a stressful job (social worker within child protection) and my epilepsy medication wont help.

Any advice?

Hi Alan

Sorry to hear that. I think it depends on the anticiapted costs of treating an illness and the burden it would cause to the Australian health system, as to whether it affects the visa. Once you know more about it all and the treatment etc, it may become clearer as to whether is will effect you.

Good luck chuck! And hugs to your wife.

Love

Rudi
