BritChickx
I'm sure the new changes will bring that number down anyway!
Guest The Ropey HOFF
Up to 300,000 a year, is that too high? At least they have a say and control who they want, mostly skilled workers, they aren't told by europe that they have to allow them in to take jobs from resident people. Its not rocket science is it, they need skilled workers for job vacancies so they have immigration set accordingly where as we don't have any jobs and we still have crazy amounts of immigrants, flooding in. jim:chatterbox:

Guest The Ropey HOFF
If you read my post again Zack my facts are right. Australia only has 5% unemployment which is well below most other countries in the world and there is always a certain amount who don't want to work. Plus it is a hugely expanding country and they need immigration especially critical skills immigration, to take the country forward, whereas here in the uk, we have practically got all the skilled workers we need, but we still have to let in tens of thousands of european workers in, because Europe tell us to. Your lucky you live in a country that can stem immigration, when things aren't as good, like of lately. It doesn't help thousands of people who are waiting ages for their visas, but they know that, they are going to a country that has this control, instead of a policy of opening the floodgates to european workers and over the last ten tears 2 million jobs have been created in the uk and 1.8 million of these jobs have gone to immigrants and we have 2.5 million people out of work, a million of them being younsters, now............... if it was like this in Australia, you would have something to complain about and when Turkey join the EU soon, there will be tens of thousands more heading here taking our jobs and undercutting wages.
