STNI occupation list?

Hi All,

Could anyone tell me where I can find out what jobs the different States sponsor people for, for a 137 stni visa?

My sisters hubby is a Basic Skills Teacher (degree & pgce but post 16's so not school teacher) at a college and as such I think only gets 50pts which leaves him short for the 138 visa that we have got.

They dont mind where in Oz they go, even the outback!!

They wont be able to apply til after Sept though, would this make any difference to the points for the stni?

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

He can still get 60 points as you score the skills points on the Nominated Occupation, which is not necessarily the recent and specific work experience occupation.

So he can Nominate Seconary School Teacher and get recognised for 60 points with degree plus PGCE and then meet the required 12/18 month recent work experience requirement as Vocational Education Teacher. Would also score 10 points for Specific Work Experience 3/4 years as Vocational Education Techer would be closely related occupation to Secondary School Teacher.

So, subject to working at least 20 hours per week as a Vocational Education Teacher (or ANY other skilled occupation on SOL) he may then have enough points for Indpendent skilled application ( but definitely for the 138). Obviously, without seeing his actual duty statements for all his work over the past 4 years, I can't say for Definite.

Thanks Tony

But does the fact that his Degree ISNT in a National Curriculum subject matter?, hence the reason he isnt able to be a school teacher here in the UK.

I think he needs to talk to an agent.

Sam

May be problem then as he needs at least 30 days teaching practice and needs to have licence/qualification to teach in UK - so 50 point Vetassess may be only avenue - may or may not be enough points for 138 visa depending on age and work experience during last 4 years

Sam..

if you go on: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/137/index.htm

and scroll down the page it has all the state link pages to find the SOL jobs....

WA page has a link for skills on demand and has another link to what they require... i haven't looked on the other state sites but i expect they are the same....

You would need a skill assessment in order to know what number to look for though, as it's all very well saying he is a .......... it's up to the skill assessment people to decide what he is and to catagorise him.

are you looking forward to Sat?... exciting!!!???.. can i come to - i can fit in your bag... i won't make a sound honest!!!

Thanks Min

I've just being looking, we know what his asco number is, there isnt any doubt about this but its only a 50 pt skill with 5 pts work experience so they're short by 5 pts for a 138 visa, if he could get passed as a Secondary Teacher then he'll get 60 & 10 pts so would have enough.

They can go to the NT though on a stni !!

Still not packed, if you weigh less than 20kg then you can come in my suitcase !!

See you soon Luv Sam xx

The Wanted Skilled Occupations for each of the States and Territories are NOT the same - you will have to make your way through all of them in turn I'm afraid ... or ask a migration agent and they can then review the matter for you.

For example:

http://www.liveinvictoria.vic.gov.au

http://www.immigration.sa.gov.au

http://www.migration.wa.gov.au

http://www.business.act.gov.au/servicestobusiness/act_skilled_and_business_migration_program

etc.

Best regards.
