Good morning, I'm looking for some information from anyone who may have had a similar career path to myself, to find out if it is a realistic option for me and my family to make the move to Australia. I'm a 27 y/o male, completed a 3 year apprenticeship with Vauxhall here in UK as a Vehicle Technician (Mechanic) and therefor gained the qualifications Diploma Level 3 (VRQ, VCQ), after completing my apprenticeship I went on to become a Offshore Wind Turbine Technician, carrying out a similar mechanical role just on much bigger components. I don't think "Wind Turbine Technician" is recognised on the skilled list, and I haven't done the Vehicle Mechanics for 5+ years now so does anyone know where I would stand in putting an application forward? Hi folks,please accept my upfront apologies if this is a repeat request, I couldn't find anything similar to my situation from any of the recent posts. Situation:I am currently employed as an ICT Business Analyst with a large firm on a 457 that was issued in August 2016. For number of reasons, I am looking to change jobs, and the new offer is for a Management Consultant role with a different firm. My question is, can my new employer simply transfer the sponsorship of my existing 457 on a different occupation? If yes, will this entail submitting a new nomination?Many thanks in advance!

Hi guys, my name is Lana. I’m new here. Currently my husband and I and our 2 children still live in Germany. We have been considering migrating to Australia. My husband is Civil Engineer and I am an Accountant. So both occupation can be found on the SOL List. So much for the background. Now I come to my problem. I would like to have my studies recognized in Australia. However, I have spent the last 3,5 years in parental. According to my research I must have worked at least 12 months in the last 24 months in my profession. How we counted the perantal leave? Does it count as a working period? Or did I actually have to work? Another question. I have often read that you have to translate your entire curriculum to be able to submit your application? I received a diploma supplement from my university in english(9 pages). My university has told me that with my diploma supplement I can have my degree recognized internationally. Do you have experience with it? Which institute can you recommend me for accountant? IPA, CA, CPA…or...? My last question. We want to apply to subclass 189. My husband will be the main applicant. So he must also do the IELTS test. We believe that we will reach the required 60 points. However, I would like to have a buffer of at least 5 points. These 5 points we would get for me. Do I have to have my degree recognized in order to receive these points? Or is simply the fact that I did this degree in Germany? I’m looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks a lot.

Hi all, I have had my skills assessed by Engineers Australia under the Washington Accord as Electronic Engineer as that was what my degree was in. My work experience however fits into the category of Telecommunications Engineer. Is this classed as a "closely related occupation" to Electronics Engineer as I need to claim some work experience points... Anyone had any similar experience? Thanks!

Hi, We're pulling together paperwork for our TRA assesment. My husband has worked as an electrical technician on helicopters for about 13 years. Avionics technician has just been removed from the SOL (which is the most natural choice of occupation title for him) but is currently on the NT and ACT lists for state sponsorship but if possible we'd like to get him in as an electrical engineer technician which is on the SOL and gives us more flexibility about where we move to without the restrictions of staying in a specific state for two years. His qualifications and apprenticeship are all in general electrical and electronic engineering but obviously his work experience has all been doing electrics on on aircrafts. Does anyone have any experience of putting forward a TRA assessment for an occupation that straddles two job titles? Will the TRA literally just check his experience and qualifications against a checklist of standards for the role of electrical engineering technician or do they review him and then pigeon hole him into the most suitable category? It's really tricky as his experience and qualifications would allow him to work on trains, boats, cars etc so in that respect it's unfair to limit him to being an aircraft technician. Our migration agent is going to review all of his evidence and then advise us which occupation she thinks we need to go for but I just wondered if anyone on here had any experience or trying to nominate an occupation that isn't necessarily exactly the job they have been doing? Also, do the TRA speak to your employers too? Would he need to specify a particular person for them to contact as we haven't told his work we're hoping to emigrate as it's such early days in the process. Thanks a lot. Hi Everyone, I'm a recent grad , Completed studies in Bachelor of Software engineering.Currently working Melbourne as a software engineer. In Feb, I've applied for Onshore ,Subclass 485 and nominated my occupation as Computing Prof - Software Designer 2231-15, as that time i'm still waiting for my skill to be assessed by ACS, and finally 2 months later , i've received a possitive skill assessment, however it came back that I'm positive for Computing Prof - Recent ICT Grad 2231-15 . Apparently , Software Designer requires work experience!I was shattered because I'm aware that it is impossible to change nominated occupation after application has been made! Now i'm waiting for the decision for the visa and made a post lodgement inquiry(attached a formal letter in my application), requested to admend my occupation to the one assessed by ACS. I'm wondering how much chance i have here for them to consider changing my occupation to the correct one .. considering both occupation is in the same category ASCO 2231 ? :embarrassed: Hope to get some advice from some great people here Regards, Demoiree

Hi guys I just had my vetasses result after 4 months of waiting and its negative. I applied for archi draftsman but im actually an interior designer so now I need to change occupation to vetasses and need to pay $500 aud. Anyone here who experience this situation .. needed to change occupation in vetasses? How long did it take? thanks for anyone who will share :biggrin:

My husband has just had a positive RPL skills assessment result from the ACS, but they have only classified the last 6 years work experience as closely related to his ANZSCO code and the job he held 8 years ago to be not closely related. He needs to demonstrate 8 years work experience in his field to qualify for the extra 5 points to reach the 65 points required when applying for our 176 visa. Does this skills assessment now mean that we are unable to proceed any further or will the main immigration application be assessed differently? Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Everyone, I'd just like to confirm whether the skilled occupation list is updated only annually? From what I can see it's updated each year on 1 July. I am aware that the various state migration plans are updated at other times - I just want to ensure that I'm not at risk that I won't be able to apply early next year because of SOL changes. My occupation, accountant, is currently "flagged". What's the likelihood it will be removed next year? I've done some reading and I see it's on various state migration plan lists... but this is a little worrying! I'm waiting for January to apply so that I can get a state sponsored visa (with faster processing times).

Hi guys,i am looking to get a 175 visa for australia,i am 31 and single,and a qualified plumber,but i have a question on the imma website it says about did i have occupation for at least 12 of the last 24 months.as i live in ireland the country is in very bad recession and it is impossible to try to get a plumbing job,as a result of that i didnt work 12 of the last 24 months only small jobs in my local area,my question is does this affect my trying to get a 175 visa? and or is there anyway around this?:unsure:any info would be great guys and thanks again

My nominated occupation has just gone to "low":cry: and on the same day I've noticed NSW have added a very similar occupation (NSW was initially our first choice).:v_SPIN: However I can't seem to find a list anywhere that tells me what the availability is? Also, what should I do? Should I wait for VETASSESS to get back to me (after Xmas) and hope that my occupation is still required in SA, or do I get cracking and apply for an assessment in the similar occupation required by NSW? I haven't got money to blow and I'm scared of paying again and the occupation going to low again! Thank you x

Hi there, Does anybody know what it means if the occupation on the State Migration Plan has gone to "Medium Availability"? Does it mean they filled their quota for that occupation by 50% or more, or less?

If anybody is interested, I phoned SA general migration today and was told that availability of occupations on their SMP is defined as follows: high availability - occupation is less than 70% filled medium availability - 40%-70% filled low availability - less than 40% places remaining Hope this might help somebody to worry less, if that is at all possible!

hi has anyone asked for a reassessment having nominated a new occupation, within the 90 day period from the original results letter- even if their original skills assessment was successful? if you have does this mean your original assessment becomes invalid or does it still stand?

HI All, yesterday I have got my SS approval from SA as Telecommunication Engineer ( ANZSCO code 263311). I submitted the my assessment as Electronic Engineer (ASCo code 2125-13) which I got before introducing ANZSCO. As per the DIAC endorsed ASCO- ANZSCO correlation, the ACSO code (2125-13 Electronics Engineer) has correlation for the below ANZSCO codes. 263311 Telecommunications engineer 263312 Telecommunications network engineer 233411 Electronics engineer Now I am applying for VISA application. In the application, I have to select my nominated occupation . Which will be my nominated occupation : is it Electronic Engineer (ASCo code 2125-13) or Telecommunication Engineer ( ANZSCO code 263311). l have been working as an engineer in the company for 11 yrs with a diploma in mechanical engineering, my job scope is equivalent to an engineer. During my work peroid, 1st yrs onwards l took up offshore part-time studies and have graduate with a mechanical engineering degree from University of South Australia in April 2010. Does this allow me to claim points for 8 yrs of Overseas Skilled Employment? Please kindly advise me. Thank you..

Hi, i have been living in Perth since Jan 11 and have had my 457 since Aug 11. im looking to change occupations as im unhappy where i work now. we're looking to move up north and try and get work on the minesites if possible. i am a qualified mechanical engineer and work as a mechanical supervisor. i am working under ANSCO code 323299 which is listed as metal fitters and machinists. im working under occupation 4111-01 - general mechanical engineering tradesperson - supervisor. what i am unsure of is how easy or difficult it is to change my occupation. if i change companies, am i limited to doing the same job or can i do anything under the ANSCO code that my visa has been granted? Also, if i were to change my occupation how long would it take to get my visa organised? thanks.

Hi all my occupation is not on the SOList but what i have found is that's spread across a few other occupations like sheet metal worker and mechanical services and air-conditioning plumber my occupation is thermal insulation engineer(lagger) we do install thermal or acoustic insulation materials to ducting, piping, or air handling equipment. also vessels, silos and pumps hot and cold work metal cladding and other finishes can anyone help

I have registerd my self when i arrived but my state immi doing survey every 3 months n asking where I am working or not. so my Q. is ..... can I do another job which is not related to my skill occupation or not. Hey all. Im currently on a WHV, and my company has said they would like to take me on long term. (Fantastic news!) I have got all the documentation for the 457, and fingers crossed it will be going ahead shortly. From reading the booklet, I read this; Now, im a 1st class welder (TRA recognised) and I will be primerilly welding. The job in hand is the modifacation and maintenance of vehicles, and there will be times where I will be doing other things such as electrical work. I also read that DIAC can run checks on the work place, both announced and unnanounced. Im probably blowing it out of all propertion, but whats the situation on 'straying' from your chosen field, and what the chances of DIAC turning up?

My Oh is a Bricklayer and has been for the last 13 years. In the last 13 years he's actually never worked for 12 months straight, as most jobs in Bricklaying are never that long. Will that affect his skills assessement??? Also he hasn't worked for the last 5 months as a bricklayer will this affect his skills assessment eve tho he's been doing this job for the last 13 years??? Please help we want to apply for assessment just not sure if this will work against us... Tanja
