457 Visa & School Fees

Hi there

 

Can anyone tell me what fees you have to pay at private schools in Queensland if you are on a 457 visa? Do you have to pay their international student fees or the Australian resident fees or something completely different?!

Hi Emma,

 

The state school fees on a temp visa were $8,000 per child per year a couple of years ago. Private schools vary from school to school....but are usually cheaper than $8,000 per year...it's just not very well known that you can go to a private school for less than you would pay state school fee's for on a temp visa :-)

We are intending to send the kids to private school if possible and it seems like it won't actually cost us any more than the state schools if you only have to pay the regular private school fees and not the international.

i think it varies between schools.

we are going to WA and i emailed the school and asked, turns out the fees are the same as for a permenant resident at our choice, ie not much

457 visa holders only pay public school fees in NSW and ACT. No fees payable in any other state.
