Guest ianinoz69
It's confusing all over Australia with different states having different policies. Best to look up each states education department website. Info for start age for children in Western Australia can be found at: Early Childhood Education Info for start age for children in Victoria can be found at: At School 5-18 - Department of Education and Early Childhood Development Of course, this info relates to state schools and can vary in private schools. The Australian government are proposing to bring all start ages in line across all states but this hasn't happened yet

olly
In Victoria you generally can start your child in Prep if they are turning 5 after 30th April of that year. We do however also have a pre-prep year which is not offered at all State schools but my local school did (weren't supposed to as the government didn't want to pay for an extra year, but my principal called it a 'Prep A' class and got away with it). Most private schools offer pre-prep though.
