Rudi
Hi Lisa He will just get into year 9 next year. Children who turn 13 before the 31 Dec 2009 will be in year 9 in 2010. He will be young in the year but i wouldn't worry to much about that....and if things are too tough for him in year 9 then you woiuld have the option of holding him back in year 8 as he is so young. Hope that helps Love Rudi x
The Bray Family
My daughter was 14 in march and is in year 9. She has found the work here harder than the uk.
millars
A friend's lad will be 14 in Dec so officially should be in year 9, but she held him back to year 8 as that is where he would be in UK. He's doing fine. I guess it depends on how bright the child is & how they get on with their peers (ie do they prefer to be the oldest or youngest in the year) One thing to add is that there is no shame in being held back a year......its happens a fair bit. Quoll
I'd put him in year 8 if it were me - that way he will be in synch with the rest of Australia (well, almost all of it) when it comes to uni time. That bit of maturity goes a long way I reckon.
