Guest Samfire
Hi Grant! The new site is FANTASTIC!!!! I definitely could NOT have created and managed something as elaborate as this, so hats off to you!!! Thanks for taking the time out to manage it on behalf of all of us on PIO! Drew did a fantastic job and now we're lucky to have you to take over!!! Well done!
Guest ajarrett
Hi, It would really help if you could split screen so that the headings are visible as yo scroll down the screen! Appart from that its a great initiative that will help many people understand the timelines when embarking on this journey! Thanks Andy

Guest Gollywobbler
Hi Grant You may be aware that on 23rd September 2009 the Minister for Immi shifted the goalposts on GSM visa applicants for the third time in 10 months, which is not cricket and not on. In case you are not familiar with the fall out from the latest shift, the FAQ below (particularly Q11) says it all. http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/faq-priority-processing.pdf In your own case the change works in your favour. As a CSL applicant for a subclass 175 visa, you now have priority over all the State sponsored non-CSL applicants. There were two sticky threads in which everyone who has been disadvantaged by the Dithering Minister's latest move have been able to share their anguish. A registered migration agent called Glenn Pereira is particularly knowledgeable about the causes of all the chopping & changing. Glenn reckons that it will not be possible to get the Minister to reverse his latest edict. OK then. Plan B is to see whether we can persuade him to modify it so as to lessen the retroactive ill-effects on existing visa applicants. Where you might be able and willing to help with this, I hope, is here: http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/71786-future-migration-existing-applicants-2.html I think it will be worth adding an extra column so that people can add their actual occupations as well. Whatever the Minister thinks is needed "all over Australia" is a fat lot of use to a regional town which is minus a Locksmith, for example. That same town could be a farming town with no need for IT wizards or Engineers. The State Lists are much better atttuned to the needs in the particular State, which include all sorts of occupations besides CSL ones. Glenn imagines a new spreadsheet but I suspect that Aussie Timeline could be adapted and that you could then probably do some computer wizardry with it to extract the data in the format that Glenn suggests should be sent to the Minister? Very few applicants for the onshore visas have joined Poms in Oz and I am not sure of the visa subclass numbers with the onshore visas. Sc 885 = onshore 175. Sc 886 = onshore 176. Sc 476 (I think) = onshore 475. There is also a sc 485 visa, which is temporary, is an onshore visa for student graduates but I am not sure whether it is included in GSM visas. I will ask Glenn about that. I doubt that we can get a big enough sample of onshore applicants to be worthwhile but it might be worth a try? Would it be easy to use your existing data to give the Minister the info that Glenn wants him to see, please? :notworthy: Many thanks Gill

I tried to read through that thread but it is far too long and all over the place for me to gather what is being requested exactly. As i am sure you have seen from my site I already track occupation, although, like most of the fields it is not mandatory. I saw Glen was asking for these fields: Name, Dt.of Appl., Class/sub-class, CSL*, MODL* ,State sponsored, Family sponsored, Medicals completed, PCC (Police) completed Problems with this request are: 1. I track username so it is not an offical application name. 2. I only track class, not sub-class 3. As per #2, i do not track family sponsored If the data is still valuable please let me know and I'd be happy to dump it into a spreadsheet. Just let me know what format you'd like it in. Also, do you want it all even if some fields may be empty (i.e. State Sponsored). Do you want occupation as it is not requested by Glenn? Cheers, -- Grant

Guest Gollywobbler
Gi Grant Many thanks for your input. Is it possible to put the data into an interactive spread sheet so that people can check their own entries, add their occupations, say whether they are State Sponsored and so on, please? Thanks Gill

Guest grant6607
Gill, refining and viewing timelines is what my site does so I don't think I need to build another solution. I did not allow a refinement by occupation as it is free form text so matches are difficult. For example, searching "Java Specialist" would not return "IT-Java". It is better to refine by asco code where we can expect a reasonably consistent data entry. Glen/Gill...you have caught me on a Monday at the beginning of a very busy week. I'll get the spreadsheet to you asap...where should i email it to? -- Grant

Guest jains005
Hi Everyone, I am a user of this site and the timeline spreadsheets as I am a 175 CSL applicant. I saw a need for a site that could be dedicated to that so went ahead and whipped one up. It is much like beupdate but without all the ads and hopefully a bit more user friendly. I just got it online yesterday so it is sure to have a few bugs out of the gate but i'll get them sorted as we find them. I managed to write a script that imported the 175 and 176 visa's from the spreadsheet so everyone will be on there. None are password protected right now but if you update them you can add your own password. Anyway, hopefully you all find it useful as it is only worthwhile if everyone uses it and updates it. Have a look, i'd love to hear your feedback! aussietimeline.com | Australian Visa Application Timeline Tracker -- Grant BTW. I have tried to reach out to Drew a few times regarding the spreadsheets but haven't heard back? hi Grant are they all CSL applicants? jains
Guest grant6607
Jains, No, the site tracks various visa types and priorities. Use the filters on the timelines screen to narrow down the results by your criteria. I think the majority of applications being lodged or at least entered on the site are CSL but the site will track all.
Guest grant6607
Hi Everyone, I am sure you have noticed but I have started to put a few ads up on the site. I just want to be clear that I am in no way hoping to make $$ from the site, just cover the hosting fees I pay every month. With the few banners I have up, even that goal is unlikely. Also, I made a change on the timelines page where the timelines now load in a scrolling box. Not sure if this is better or not but we'll give it a try. I am working on making the column headers always on top but it is harder than I thought. -- Grant
