    New Timeline Monitor Site

Hi Everyone, I am a user of this site and the timeline spreadsheets as I am a 175 CSL applicant. I saw a need for a site that could be dedicated to that so went ahead and whipped one up. It is much like beupdate but without all the ads and hopefully a bit more user friendly. I just got it online yesterday so it is sure to have a few bugs out of the gate but i'll get them sorted as we find them. I managed to write a script that imported the 175 and 176 visa's from the spreadsheet so everyone will be on there. None are password protected right now but if you update them you can add your own password. Anyway, hopefully you all find it useful as it is only worthwhile if everyone uses it and updates it. Have a look, i'd love to hear your feedback! aussietimeline.com | Australian Visa Application Timeline Tracker -- Grant BTW. I have tried to reach out to Drew a few times regarding the spreadsheets but haven't heard back?
  2. Hey guys, i'm new here so hello! My name is Joe, I am 20 years old and i'm in Australia on a Working Holiday Visa and I love it here! I have many questions that hopefully you guys can help me out with so that hopefully I can stay here permanently  Firstly, and probably the most strange question, the website SEEK.com.au - Under all the ad's on this site it says "You must have the right to live and work in Australia to apply for this job". Does my WHV place me in that category? Or does it mean you have to be a citizen to apply? Secondly, my motorcycle licence. I have a full UK motorcycle licence with a 33BHP restriction, if I transfer that to an Australian licence will I still be able to ride any bike? Or will it put me in the 250cc class? And also, can I keep my UK motorcycle licence and then have an WA driving (car) licence? Thirdly, and probably most importantly, staying in Australia. I want to stay permanently here, but I have no trade qualifications. Can I; a) Get an apprenticeship on a WHV and get sponsored through that. This would be my ideal option but i'm not sure if it is possible or not! The other option is; b) Get a visa (if it exists) that allows me to take a training course that will get me qualifications in a trade? I do realise my options are very limited but I surely can't be the first person to come on a WHV with no trade skills and want to stay here? Thanks for any advice given guys!
  3. Hi , i have posted a couple off times on here but thought i would say Hi and find out if there are any other families or couples heading out to Sydney in the new year? We have signed the contract for work, had shipping quotes, trying to tell people we are going but cant seem to admit to anyone or myself that its forever....(I call it our family adventure and only time will tell if its permenant or not.) Going on a 457 visa with hubbys current uk employers so know it is totally safe on that visa. We are getting our (well husbands ) skills assesed now so we can apply for Pr which again the company will pay for. Our eldest son is 9 1/2 and so exited to be going, Middle child is daughter of 7 who really dosent want to go (trying to win her over with pool, koalas and dolphins ...very nearly there) and our yougest of nearly 3 who wont have a clue! I am 32 and husband is 40. I am hoping to get chatting to any others in the same situation . We will know nobody to start with.....Very scary!!! I think we eill be heading for the Shire or the Hills district.
  4. Hi, We have been looking to rent a caravan in the Perth area. We are going for a year from March 2012 and have seen a brilliant camp site called BlueGum, but they are in Melbourne. We are looking for a Static type of van. We don't want to spend an absolute fortune because we want to be able to live whilst we are there. Does anyone know of any good static long term camp site in Perth, WA? Many Thanks for any Info that could help us? Cheers David.

  7. Well,i thought it's time to mention the well known internet auction site(.com.Au)::here!:yes:I am talking about the sellers, who are not content with merely giving out the basic info on what they are selling:wacko: ,but proceed to tell all and sundry why they are selling, plying us with veritable Tomes, like one i just read,on how their Granny has left this mortal coil unexpectedly, and the sellers Mother no longer has room for her beloved Mums stored Chess Board, which belonged to her Grandad, who said before he died that it came from India, via Sydney!!!!:confused:LikeWGTFs:goofy:!!!!Love it though, the Aussies are superb, they really do say it like it is!!!!

I think this site is addictive

I really need to spend less time on this site :biglaugh: It's like an emotional rollercoster, you feel others frustration when they are waiting for their visa's, the elation when they get theirs, the disappointment when yours is still pending, the fear people have of taking that big leap of faith, the experience and success stories of those who have gone before you, the ones who want to come home, the reality of the move, and those that are in pain! It's better than TV!! Phew, I need a cuppa! :twitcy:

    Civil Site Engineers

Just looking for some chat with any Civil Site Engineers who have made the move to Oz. Just wondering how easy you found getting a job over there and what sort of salary you earn. I am HND qualified with 6 years experience working for contractors on a range of different projects from highway upgrade scheme to major construction projects. Any info would be appreciated. Cheers
  15. Hi just joined the site yesterday and thought I'd say hello here and introduce myself!. My husband, me and 2 children (5 and 3) have just applied for WA SS yesterday. So we are waiting and hoping that comes back positive and then we can get the visa app in. We are looking at the Perth area, maybe NOR but it is hard to get any perspective from over here about where to live. Obviously good schools, family friendly area are going to be important to us - but kind of have to wait until OH has job. Looking forward to meeting people on here - it has already become more popular than FB - i am always looking for information!!!! Helen:biggrin:

    LAFHA & Site uplift

Hi everyone  I have a query with regard to LAFHA and site uplifts. I will be working FIFO that comes with a substantial site uplift. I asked the HR lady about LAFHA during the interview discussions and she said that i might not be better off by going with the LAFHA. She said that as the site uplift is applied to the base salary, reducing my base salary by apportioning some of it as LAFHA then any gain the LAFHA would be taken up by the reduction in site uplift. Does this make sense? It would be great to hear from anyone who would know about this and whether there is a simple way of calculating which is the most beneficial way to play it. Many thanks
