Studying on a spouse 309 visa

Hi,

We have been out here since the end of January on a spouse 309 visa and I have been looking into doing a teacher training course. Would I still be classed as an international student until I get the second part of the visa or because I'm living here would I be able to get it as an Australian student? There is no way we'd be able to afford for me to be able to study if we had to pay international fees so I'd be grateful for any advice!

Thanks!

The immigration site indicates that you can study but you would not be eligible for any government support.

Spouse Visa: Offshore Temporary and Permanent (Subclasses 309 and 100)

I read this as that you would be treated as a temporary resident at least for the first two years and thus would have to pay international student fees. At least teaching is one of the cheaper options:wacko:
