hi there

my husbands the worker so far and he said that it is easy going working for an ozzie. and he works in a small family run place which you could think might make it harder. i collected him from work one day and they were keen to meet me so i went in with the kids and we all sat down and had a drink together and we have even been to a bbq with them as well.

so easy going - so far so good !

i've actually found it pretty good, i know all bosses are different, sometimes you get a good'un sometimes not.

My boss and supervisors are ace (touches wood) asked the boss today when i should stop for lunch as usually we work in groups but today i was on my tod so didn't get the usual smoko call and he just said 'whenever you feel like it'.

I do need to get used to the fact that when i'm told that i 'should probably do X task' they don't actually mean probably, they mean do it... lol

Have worked for 3 different companies and got frustrated with them all. There is just NO urgency in anything and NO guildelines. There was no management structure either as all the managers mingle and socialise with the workers so when someone needs to be pulled up over something they are doing wrong it just doesn't happen.

Working as a youth worker with kids and seeing NO boundaries in place for the kids was a joke. The other workers used to take the kids in our care to their homes and their own kids school concerts because they could get paid for 'looking' after the kids whilst carrying on with their own lifes. People used to come to work in their PJ's (Honestly WTF:shocked:) then get changed when they felt like it.

One of the kids put in a serious (but full of ****) claim against me said I had called her a prostitute!! the company refused to do anything as they 'knew she was lying & I was a good sort:huh:' I phoned child safety myself as I was scared if they didn't investigate claims that were made then in the future something real and serious could go undetected.

Its so scary as the emphasis seems to be on keeping ones social life going and keeping on track with colleagues, which in some industries could work well, however I find it totaly shocking. Just my 2 cents worth, obviously it DOES depend on the type of job u have.

Worked for a number of Aussie bosses (I'm temping at the mo) and they've all been excellent. So much nicer than brit bosses (really laid back). You also get treated like equals by most (well I have, so far)
