Hi Mark,

I worked in Perth nearly 10 years ago, but I worked for a specialist engineering company in the oil and gas business. They were called JPKenny, they have an office in Aberdeen aswell!!! They were working for Woodside Petroleum who are massive!!!! in Perth. I also worked for some Brown & Root engineers, so there is 3 companies to check out.

Let me know if you get working for JPKenny - they were a mad lot!!!!

Dont know anything about the mines - that would be Kalgoorlie.

Im trying to go back after a wet few years in Ireland:wacko:

Cheers

Hi Mark,

Some where to start anyway! Yes I loved Perth from the moment I landed there. We travelled to Melbourne and Sydney and then up the east coast to Cairns then over to Darwin and back down to Perth. We were twenty something.... and backpacking. We were luckier work wise in Perth, the weather is gorgeous and your right on the coast yet working in a city (nice clean city). I worked in one of those big buildings on St Georges Terrace overlooking the sea. The views are breathtaking - so hard to work when your looking out your window and seeing everyone windsurfing!!! It has got more expensive since we lived there (we stayed 3 years - hubbies boss sponsored us - hes a carpenter) but I still want to go back. It doesnt seem much cheaper than back home but the lifestyle is brilliant. There is more work opportunities for us there than back home(living in West of Ireland) and work is scarce at the moment.

Houses are expensive now. I think the average is about 500-600.000 dollars, so we are hoping to get a decent deposit out of our house here.

I am a far less stressed person in Oz. I just love it and came back against my will.

I loved my job and the people I worked with - very important.

Got paid well!!!

Loved the weather - we never felt cold even in winter, us being from the west of ireland!!

Loved the outdoor life.

Looking up schools at the moment, which are much bigger than here, but have great facilities.

I feel nervous and excited and Ive lived there before. I can imagine what you feel like. Im not a big city person, but Perth doesnt feel like a city as your right on the coast and its not huge like Sydney. It has got a lot bigger since we were there so maybe Ill get a shock. Still the beautiful beach will be there. It has the best beaches and coast line in my opinion. Bondi Beach was a dump over in Sydney.

Good luck

caz
