Multiple EOIs, Mental Health and State Nomination Question

Hi all,

I've submitted an EOI for a 491 state nomination visa as an Accountant (General) with 90 points. However, in the latest invitation rounds on skills select I noticed that External Auditors were being invited on the 189 with only 65 points.

Is it worth me submitting a second EOI for a 189 (or even a 190) with 70 (75) points?

On the 491, I've entered the state only as Western Australia (my preferred state). I read it's better to select a single state rather than selecting 'Any'. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this?

Lastly, my wife was diagnosed with OCD as a teenager. She's been on medication ever since and has been to private therapy on and off over the years. What's the best way to gauge whether this is would be a deal breaker before we actually apply and pay the $$$s in visa costs? Does anyone know an agent who specialises in specific health applications?

Thank you in advance :)

George Lombard specialises in health issues.  Immigration aren't worried about what condition she has, just what she might cost the taxpayer in medical costs once she moves to Australia.  There is a threshold in $$$.

Thanks for your reply. I read it's about the expected cost in $$$ and whether it would block access for other citizens but other than that it seems like a bit of a black box.

I'll get it touch with George Lombard to discuss. Do you know if he is still active as his website appears to be offline?

George has recently joined Playfair. Great bloke and highly regarded. To be honest, most registered migration agents with several years experience will be well versed in health issues as it's an are which impacts more visa applications than you may think. It's an added bonus if your Migration Agent also has a background in health.

When it comes to EOI's, nominating a specific state or territory is definitely the best approach. Ticking "any" is typically interpreted by the potential nominators that you are indifferent. They would much rather nominate someone who is motivated to live and work in their "territory".

Good luck
