Travel in Europe

. Train travel is a very efficient and pleasant wat to travel in Europe.  We've done a lot of it. Perhaps check out the various passes you can purchase that will include numerous countries within a period of time?.

Some care needs to be taken though in stations. A lot of con artists and the like seem to inhabit and zoom in on foreign tourists. One example on a personal level , was in Milano, we had two suitcases, before could embark the train two guys carried the bags onto the train then demanded twenty euros. Finally paid up ten euros to avoid a potential incident. Hence keep bags close and be alert to surroundings.

Planning a Europe trip next year and wondering has anyone travelled from Spain to UK on the train? Reasons we are considering this is to see more cities on the way to Manchester, ie Paris/London. Is it feasible with a big case in tow?

If you end up not doing this, what we did a few years ago worked well for us. We flew direct to Manchester got a hire car and had just over a week with family, friends etc and travelled around to a few places we wanted to show the kids (Wales, Blackpool etc etc), we then drove to London stopping off en route at the Zoo etc , explored London for 3 or 4 days taking the kids to Buckingham Palace and some other sites. We handed the hire car back at Gatwick and flew to the Canary Isles for a week, from there we returned to Gatwick for a night then flew to Amsterdam were we had another few days exploring with the kids. From Amsterdam we went to Dubai then back to QLD. It worked for us having a little base in each place so we werent carting 4 or 5 cases/ bags around, we could also go where we wanted or spend longer in one attraction if it interested us more (or should i say the kids! haha)
