Moving to uk

Recommended Posts

Best of luck with the move.  Your only sensible option is to book an Airbnb or a holiday flat for a month when you first arrive, then look around.  The two main websites are https://www.rightmove.co.uk/  and https://www.zoopla.co.uk/.   There's also an app called Movebubble that I'm seeing a lot of publicity for - no idea if it's any good.

I'm not aware of any companies that will find rentals for you.  There are executive relocation companies (try Googling "executive relocations uk"), but they serve the top end of the market.

As Marisa says, go for a holiday type rental to start with, Airbnb probably easiest.  Rightmove is great for seeing what’s about longer term.  Most will do a credit search which will be irrelevant in your case as you’ve lived overseas for so long.  They may well ask for references and they will need evidence of income to confirm affordability. Just the usual things really.  Will you be working/have pension income?

Hi I'm moving home to UK after 21 years in aus

Dies anyone know of company's that maybe help with rentals

I can highly recommend Overseas Packers & Shippers, if you plan on shipping a load of stuff back. All our stuff arrived yesterday, and not a single item was broken or damaged 😊

  • 1 month later...

The biggest obstacle seems to be having no  UK Credit Rating.  We came back twice now and always found that's the biggest hurdle, be it a mobile phone contract or a rental.

With rentals we always ended up paying up in full for 6 month in advance .
