Howdy,

We've been in Brissy for a little less than a week now. We're not Brummie's, but hardened Northerner's (Manchester - so beware!). :jiggy:

We're looking to live in the Kenmore and Chapel Hill areas, but would be happy to meet-up.

Matt

Hi Brummie/Yam-Yams

We live south Brisbane we came from Warley its good to see some post from local people. We lived here nearly 4 years but finding things hard at the moment and gone unsettled. We should all try to meet up one weekend if anyone is up for it and meet in a central place for everyone to reach.

It would be good to catch up with new people and especially from local parts. Let me know if anyone is interested .

Hiya, this post isn't entirely relevant. I am from Redditch just outside B'ham originally. Moved to Oz in 1995 and returned to UK in Feb this year - but to North Wales as this is where my mother now lives. I used to post quite regularly on PIO when living back in Sydney! And admit I did knock Australia a bit at times...... now I'm back in UK and am regretting decision to return BIG TIME!!! It cost me a bloody fortune - brought 3 dogs and cat back with me and furniture. Been renting a horrid little 2 up 2 down which doesn't have double glazing and wind whistles around the place making windows rattle.... !!! Had to pay 6 months rent in advance (thankfully lease up mid October). Have only had a bit of temp work - at the grand total of £6.50 per hour - decided to claim Jobseekers Allowance in May when it became apparent couldn't find job - and it took them until July to sort out my claim. Then mum was rushed into hospital and I forgot to sign on and now they've stopped my Jobseekers Allowance. But that aside.... I am returning to Oz certainly before end November - hopefully earlier - and am trying to decide whether to go back to Sydney or to move to Brisbane. Just wondered what job situation is like in Brisbane? I am a Secretary/PA/EA. Also what is it like to live there.... I had to commute 3 hours a day in Sydney 'cos I lived in Campbelltown but worked in Sydney. Definitely don't want to return to Western suburbs of Sydney. Anyway, sorry to hijack this thread ... it was the Birmingham thing that caught my eye....x

The obviouse thing is have you looked at seek.com for vacancies. You could always joing the sister site to PIO for Qld and Brisbane, see if anyone can offer advice.
