JZ007
My application for citizenship by conferral in Australia has been submitted since Jun 2018, and the status for it is still "received" at this point of time, which means I'm waiting for decision. My situation is I'll be leaving Australia in about 2 months from now and start a overseas employment. I have contacted home affairs about my change of circumstances and was told that the decision could not be made if I'm overseas. Instead, I'll be receiving a email letter saying something like "decision is ready to be made, you need to come back to Australia for the decision to be actually made". My question is has anyone ever received this "decision ready to be made" email before? Once you received the email and return back to Australia, will the application then be made right away or did you have to stay in Australia for some time to wait for the decision? if so, what would the waiting time be like? Your help will be much much appreciated.
rammygirl
Do you not need to take a test before approval. Both need to be done onshore.

LisainOz
I think we might contact a lawyer for advice.

I have tried to contact a lawyer about this but they need $200 to start the conversation (I'm not even sure if they have the answer to the problem). But given you have done your test in April, your decision should be on the way soon ( a friend of mine did the test end of April and her decision came last week). Please let me know if you find any answer to the posted question or your decision comes.
LisainOz
I've had friends do their test after us and had their ceremony last week so I think it's all random timings unfortunately and depends who is on your case! Yes I know what you mean about the lawyers, I ahve emailed some asking them if thye are able to answer my questions and if they are I will pay them so I'll let you know what they say! And yes good to know someone else in exactly the same situation! Where are you heading to?
