Karin
We submitted our 143 application in Oct 16, estimated processing 27 months, Jan 19. They now estimate 42+ months We are arriving in Oz 28/12/18. Can we come on a 651 visitor visa and leave every 3 months then apply for a new 651 immediately it expires and keep doing this til our 143 comes thru? any advice would be great, thanks
JetBlast
The eVistor visa lasts for 12 months with a maximum stay of 3 months at a time so you won't need to reapply. However it isn't a good idea to use the visa the way you describe. It isn't designed for that purpose. If you're hopping in and out of the country immigration will smell a rat and it could potentially cause problems for your 143 or even worse a 3 year ban.I don't even know if you can apply for a visitor visa whilst waiting for another so might not be able to do it anyway.I would just wait. It isn't worth the risk.
Karin
We visit regularly as our kids are there and have always had a 651, even while our 143 has been lodged, but have never stayed longer than a month at a time. We are booked to arrive and house sold and new house build started, just need a visa solution.

No reason why you cannot continue to use a 651 BUT setting up a pattern of leaving and re-entering every three months may well lead to attention from Immigration and the point may come, possibly after only 2 or 3 visits, where they refuse you entry as you are not a genuine tourist, Many people get away with it but the practice is becoming more common and so more stories are emerging of people being refused entry. Karin
Yes I understand, would rather not upset anyone, totally crazy that the timeline keeps moving and it costs $100K+ Maybe someone who has been thru it might have a solution
