Area recommendations in QLD and NSW

HI there, 

Currently living/renting in the Mordialloc area of South East Melbourne and love it. However, we just cant afford to buy here so we are starting to look elsewhere.

Any recommendations for around 500k that has a great family lifestyle, inc parks, pool, cafes etc, plenty for the children to do when young and teenagers. Not too hot and humid (so not too far North), a beach nearby, good public schools and amenities such as shops, doctors and a hospital not too far away. I'm open to anywhere that is affordable, even if it doesn't have all of the above but is growing. 

Any further advice on Gold and Sunshine Coasts, North and South coast NSW would be really appreciated

Newcastle offers the best chance of getting jobs. Lots of beaches including one in the city itself.  You'd need to check what you could get for 500k though, that's a very tight budget.

Any of the towns along the NSW coast are nice - Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Ballina - but jobs would be the issue.

Sunshine Coast would be a nice place to raise a family. It’s quite affordable and only about an hour from Brisbane.

Sadly not many decent houses for $500.000 on the Sunshine Coast. There has been a hike in prices in our area in the last 6/12 months and houses are selling very quickly. The last 3 sold near us recently, 2 bought by people from Sydney, and on Saturday 2 couples from Melbourne bidding against each other.
