hoops333
Hi, I have been with my partner who is an Australian perm resident in a de facto relationship for 3 years (living together for 2 years) We would both like to live Australia so if we were to start the visa process what would go against us to not getting approved? Thank you in advance!
hoops333
Sorry forgot to mention we are living in UK at the moment
Marisawright
"De facto" doesn't just mean "in a committed relationship". It means "the equivalent of marriage, but without the certificate". So I'd say you've been de facto for two years. That's fine, it's enough time. It's good that you're still in the UK because the process is much faster if you apply while you're still in the UK. You'll have to wait for the visa to come through, but at least you can get on with life in the meantime. Whereas if you fly to Australia and then apply, you'll be on a bridging visa for several months and you won't feel able to get settled because you don't know the outcome. MaggieMay24
If you're applying from overseas, the 309/100 partner visa is the one you'd be applying for. There's a decent overview on the government website --> https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/Search/Pages/Results.aspx?k=309 And if you read back through this partner (UK) thread it may give you some helpful info. If you have any questions once you've gotten an idea of the basics, feel free to ask and someone will be glad to help --> Arranging a consultation with a registered migration agent is also a great way to understand the requirements, have some professional guidance on what you'll need to include and how to best present it, etc.
Beffers
Sounds like you need to apply for a 309 visa. Your evidence will need to prove you're a genuine as-good-as-married couple. There's lots of info on the 309 visa on these pages, and there's a Partner Visa booklet you can download from Immi website.
