as far as i know you can't leave your job over a month continuously if you are on visa 457. So, i think if you took more than 20 days but it was not in one time, you should be fine. you better seek advice from your MA. All the best and please keep us updated.

apologies, i ve checked and it should be 90 consecutive days actually

http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/457-

[h=4]Employment conditions[/h]You must continue to meet the conditions of your employment while on a subclass 457 visa. This includes:

  • working in the occupation for which you were nominated

  • working for the sponsor who nominated the position you are working in, or an associated entity of the sponsor (if your sponsor is a standard business sponsor in Australia)

  • not ceasing employment for more than 90 consecutive days.

Skilled workers on a subclass 457 visa are considered to have ceased employment when either you or your employer notifies us.

If you stop working for your sponsor, you must do one of the following within 90 days:

  • find another employer to sponsor you (they need to lodge a nomination)

  • apply for a different visa

  • make arrangements to leave Australia.

You must apply for another subclass 457 visa if your visa is about to expire and you want to keep working in Australia.

Just wondering where did you get this information from that says you cannot leave your job over a month if you are on 457 ?

This isn't true. I am on 457, went overseas for training (5 weeks) and never had any issues coming back. 4 months later, I went to a 6 weeks holiday overseas again and did not have any issues on my entry.

it can vary some time you may have the same CO for Nomination and Visa. But generally the applications usually get allocated at the same time but to different case officers, so they may get processed at slightly different speeds. If the case officer with the visa application happens to start on their assessment before the nomination has been approved, they will put it to one side until the nomination has been approved, and then come back after some time to assess the visa for approval.

I feel Majority of the people have only got approval for the Nominations and visa approvals did not happen(hoping it reached threshold). From today they would start looking at the pending applications and the applications which are in queue. So dontworry every one should receive a good news very soon.

Hi Folks,

Been lurking on here for some time. Just received the call from my migration agent that as of today I'm a permanent resident :-))

So happy!

Here are my timings:

Nomination submitted: 23rd March 2015

Visa application submitted: 24th March 2015

Visa Granted 1st July 2015.

Application was submitted 'approval ready', so all medicals etc submitted at the time of the application. I wasn't asked for any further information. I was told 4 - 6 months, so was expecting this around August or September...so this was an unexpected bonus!
