javadxster
Hello, My sister, who has bachelor degree 3 years in Psychology of Science from University of Birmingham. Looking at the APS for migration assessment it says the following: "Completed qualifications comparable to six years of study in psychology in Australia; and meet the English language proficiency requirement" Is her bachelor degree equivalent to 6 years of psychology study in Australia? and Is there any chance for her to obtain the below SOL for psychology? Has any one gone through this? TiaCapan
She will get nowhere with a 3 year degree. To pass the skills assessment as a Psychologist with the APS (soon to be assessed by AHPRA) she would need to be a Chartered Psychologist in the UK. Tickled Pink
Ummmm no... 3 years of study in the UK is comparable to 3 years study in Australia... the UK is not superior by 50%! Do you think Australia is that far behind the game? Its not a third world education system here... She will need post grad certificate and work experience to pass more than likely. A three year British bachelor degree is just that, a three year degree. Clinical Psychologists in Australia generally have four year degrees PLUS a two year Masters (at a bare minimum). She will need further study.
Tickled Pink
Requirements/options laid out pretty clearly here: http://www.psychology.org.au/studentHQ/studying/study-pathways/
Quoll
If she had honours then she can argue an equivalence with Australian honours (which is a fourth year) but, honestly, she needs further study and chartered status and even then she is probably going to struggle to get registration in Aus through AHPRA and then actually find a job. Psychs are ten a penny
Maaarianga
"soon to be assessed by AHPRA" what does that change in terms of Visa assessment?
