craigash12
Hi everyone, My partner is just about to send his paperwork away for his skills assessment. Upon telling a friend of the family this she told him that he needed $40,000 in savings in order for visas to be granted. Can anyone tell me if this is correct? It Seems quite ridiculous but I would just like some confirmation that this information is rubbish. Marisawright
I can't answer your question without knowing what kind of visa he's going for - but yes, for some visas you do need thousands of dollars in savings. If he's going for a skills assessment though, I'm guessing the one he's going for isn't one of those.
craigash12
Thanks for your reply. It's a 189 visa he's applying for. That's reassuring to know. I was panicking a bit when I heard her saying that Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

Good luck xx

MaggieMay24
No savings needed for a 189 visa. Some states (e.g. NT) may require you to show sufficient savings for them to agree to a state-sponsored visa for anyone going down that path.
Slawka
Last year when I applied I didn't have to show any savings and for sure not for skills assessment! Good luck
